My idea of heaven is a place where the Tyne meets the Delta, where folk music meets the blues.

Thanks Dutchessy.

Seems like GH is back in the set then.  Great version last night in Lucca.

Interesting show in Zurich.  :D

Pretty long set list for a late July show.  :thumbsup
Mark in good shape, nice versions  with sometimes  licks I've never heard before ... or don't remember.
Sonny was excellent. I can't rate that song as a great song but it's completely different live. I must admit I like it now.
Give that man a Les Paul on a stage and watch and listen  :clap

When Sonny is excellent the rest of the show is flying.  ;)

I was happy to meet many star amiters and will meet most of them with pleasure for my local and final show tomorrow.  ;D

Almost perfect show except the audience is sleeping and security is a disaster  :thumbsdown (maybe it's linked  :think). A disaster like in every swiss venue, we can't give that image to the rest of the world. Of course they were uncomfortable with the mini run of the bulls. I didn't like the eyes of that security idiot on my bagpack. What kind of dangerous item did he think there was inside ? A camera ? a pair of shoes ?  the Holy Bible ? A Justin Bieber DVD ?
Even the band being in great shape, you know there's nothing extra to expect. They do their job, very well but nobody will make them think they should do more.
Funily the joke : We'll play a long time, it's up to you disappeared.
Sorry for the last lines : end of the tour blues.

Corned Beef City :

I disagree with you tunnel about the sleeping audience. For a swiss audience there were pretty loud cheers. Of course not as loud as french audience. But really good, at least what I experienced in first row.
But today's show was better, one song less but more energetic again. Looking forward to st julien tomorrow

Thanks Tunnel for the review.  You didn't really have a Justin Bieber DVD in your bag did you? ;D

Got back late-ish yesterday evening. Great venue, even though it's a temporary set-up. Some of the locals there said the audience would be a bit restrained but, having been to concerts in Switzerland before, I hadn't really noticed that.  In Zurich, the crowd was vocal almost from the very beginning. Even union-flagged PC got a cheer. And, talking of the very beginning, all of the band looked to be in a very jolly mood even as they walked on to the stage. Some of them were grinning in a way that suggested more than just a good mood, I have to say.  They were apparently staying in the very expensive hotel adjacent to the venue site and, since even the ordinary hotels that mere mortals like us use are rather expensive in Zurich, that must be very expensive indeed - but I doubt that was enough to account for their demeanour.

In terms of its production values, I thought the show was a touch looser than those I had attended earlier in the tour. For example, the odd lighting cue was missed by a moment or two and there was a bit more interaction, it seemed to me, between the band and side-stage crew. Maybe it was just that I was much closer to the stage this time round and noticed something that happens most nights. Maybe, it was because, being part of a festival, the band and crew have to adjust to the local presentational arrangements. Perhaps, as the tour begins to wind to its close, the band and crew are simply beginning to feel "demob happy".

Notwithstanding these comments, it was a most enjoyable evening in terms of the performance.  I came away feeling that the trip over was very much worthwhile. The security staff were perhaps unnecessarily strict during the early part of the show but even that didn't detract from the evening's entertainment.

Mrs twm had a whale of a time, with the added bonus of reacquainting herself (ourselves, actually) with some old friends on the tour circuit and meeting (and, I hope, making) some new friends.

Many thanks, twm!    I'm glad that you and Mrs twm enjoyed the concert so much.  My final gig is coming up fast now - Wednesday in Carcassonne and I am very excited, but I know I will be sad, as always, when it comes to an end.   ;)

Thanks also to Tunnel85 - I'm liking Sonny a lot more these days, too!  Maybe I'll get it on Wednesday!   :)
