Title: Forum Isssue - Long Posts Not Posting - Need More Info to Fix
Post by: Hoops McCann on August 23, 2013, 09:20:30 PM
I will readily admit that I don't read every post here. However, I've noticed on a few occasions someone will mention that they were about to make a lengthy reply to a topic and for whatever reason, the post was lost i.e. their reply never appears on the forum. That's all I know at the moment. The problem is that while I have little doubt that this may be caused by some bug in the forum software, I have never been able to replicate this issue myself. Could someone that may have experienced this issue describe what happened so that I can fix it? Thanks.

I remember it once or twice, long ago. It had to do with the fact that "While I was posting, other members have posted" and I was asked if I still want to post or read first, you know what I mean.. Or could it be some kind of "time-out" because writing long posts takes its time? Just two ideas from a total computer- retard... I also remember that it was twm in the main having this problems on a regular base.

I think its because the warning "while you were writing some new posts etc" that stops your post to be published. It happens to me lot if times that I was in a hurry or doing several things at the same time, clicked "post" and left Amit without noticing my post was stopped by the system.

If anyone reads through this thread and has suffered from symptoms of the same issue, you should know that I have added the ability to save posts as "drafts". This means that they will available for you to see again (saved) but will not be posted to the forum until you choose to post them. So if you find yourself formulating a particularly long reply or starting a new topic that requires deep explanation, you can click "Save as Draft" before posting to the forum and your post will not be lost. Hopefully, that will be a somewhat roundabout solution to the problem.  :hmm
