exactly!
i hope we get something out of this. this is genuinely the first existing MK recording out there, AND it is still there, whereas so many "first" or "demo" tapes have desintegrated due to age...
lets save this baby!!

OK, first of all I think it should be Sue Herombe.

Secondly, I've done some googling and from what I can see her name is now Sue Frost and she lives in (Cullercoats to) Whitley Bay. :)

just watching that norwegian programme that shows that recording, and Sue's mum speaking a video message to mark, which sincerely seemed to move him

I like the part on the video, when Mark is listening to Sue's mum's message and she asks him to drop by for a cup of tea when he's next in Newcastle and he replies to her, "Yes, I will"  and blows her a kiss!   Very sweet!  :)  I wonder if he ever did go for that cup of tea - I hope he did!    :)

Dusty, Sue is not alive anymore.   It says on the programme that she had died 11 years before.

Oops.

Oh well, the TV show producers obviously managed to track down the tape, so maybe we can.

Update:

According the the host of the show, the whole song exsist!!

But he was not sure if he could just give it to us yet. He is going to check things out first and then contact me again.

*fingers crossed*

I'm going to bring a new live to this old thread, firstly with the cover we did couple of days ago:
http://www.amarkintime.org/forum/index.php/topic,3999.0.html

And then, I really would like to find the whole 1966 recording! I would really like to know how Mark and Sue did it, which verses they got rid of, where they sang it together and where by one. This is what overwhelmingly excites me now. How I can contact this Norwegian host again?

Original interview still can be found here:

This is what I love about this forum and wonderful community.... I always think I've seen everything about Knopfler, being the uber fan that I am but here is something I've never seen. Very sad that Sue is no longer around. Wonder how she passed away so young. Thanks
Fordie
