It's not much but...
« on: November 28, 2013, 12:38:41 PM »
..I mentioned Mark as my inspiration when interviewed by our local newspaper, second paragraph..

I'm sure Mark will be very happy when he reads this, lol !!!  ::)

My singer is heaps cranky, because she wanted to downplay the whole 'idol' thing, and the journo seemed very sympathetic to this, them ignored us, haha! Well, she gets compared to Amy wine house in the first sentence so it's not all bad I reckon.
Hey, i`ve got a truffle dog - finally a song the ordinary man can relate too!

Well if she (Lauren) gets compared to Amy Winehouse and you "Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits" then it can't be bad!

Im a bit embarrassed ! I'm inspired for sure, but not worthy of being mentioned in a shared sentence, I should've just said fingerstyle and left it at that!

Lauren should be happy, I agree! Girls, what can you do ?  Lol

Congratulations Fletch   :wave

I think it's an honor (at least for me) to be quoted in a newspaper, being influenced by your hero   :clap

I remember Bjorn explaining on Gilmourish.com that before making his site, he was playing in some bands, and after one gig a Iron Maiden guitarist went and said to him "you're sounding very gilmourish", and it made Bjorn very proud.

I believe, Mark had the same feeling when he was compared to Dylan, Cale, Marvin, etc....

What asking more than being put in the same class as your hero(es) ?  :)  :thumbsup

Everyone has a background, when learning to play guitar, you have your heroes, and they influence you. It has to be an honour in this case  ;)

Good luck with the band!
You might get lucky, now and then
