Hopefully he is mistaken in his judgement of it's sound or this song isn't representative of the album as a whole.  From my POV anyway.

He told me it was a celtic part. Its DaanTheoden btw, also an amit member.

I agree with you LE but usually Artists like him doesn't want to go on Twitter or FB. They dislike the whole business and they're asking other member of their Team to post for them!! And frankly i don't blame them for that. In France we have several personnalities who have been insulted on their FB pages lately!!! And regarding MK, some friend of mine sent me yesterday the link to that crazy man who posted a very strange blog 2 years ago talking about the beginning of DS!! I won't name this lunatic because I was rather shocked and I don't want to start a new debate with this nonsense!!!  ::)
But it's written in the starlight and every line on your palm, we're fools to make war on our brothers in arms.

Love the quote on that link:

What if Sultans not even played at all with all its twiddly bits? :)
Looks like Mark not ended up losing all of his fans around the globe.

Seems the full quote isn't quite true any more, especially the part where he claims to enjoy playing the old ones.  Wonder when he changed his mind and what suddenly made him think his songs were no longer "signposts" in our lives.   ;)

Someone on the Mark Knopfler Fans Worldwide group on Facebook:

So I just heard a part of a song on Mark's coming album 'Tracker'. Believe me, it's frickin' awesome!!!

and

It resembles privateering a little bit, but I only heard 10 seconds of it

Actually pretty exciting. Hopefully we will here something pretty soon also :)

The release date is approaching, so in no time some radios will start broadcasting one of the new songs, as happened with Redbud tree...
You might get lucky, now and then

From what we know, that sound has to be representative, if we think in the previous MK records, and the band he used for this record, being the folkie ones the only band besides MK, Guy, Ian and Glenn...

I remember listening an excerpt of a 'celtic' opening part of Yon Two Crown prior to its release, and thought it would be very celtic tune. I thought about anything but not about the Silvertown Blues kind of tune, such dynamic and rock song. So this first opinion can be also wide and about anything.

Yes, 10 seconds are very little... Imagine if you listen to the first 10 seconds of Kingdom of gold...
