Mark Knopfler's World War 1 guitar tribute
« on: October 28, 2014, 05:05:58 AM »
Mark playing "THE LAST POST" tribute to the 17.000 soldiers who lost their lives in the first WW on his beautiful Blue Pensa Custom MKD at British Grove, what a sound !!! I think that Mark loves this beauty.

If I realised that the chances were slim,
How come I'm so surprised when the tide rolled in

What a surprise to find this little but so moving clip this morning.

(And the fan(boy) in me of course notices cool shirt, cool shoes and that colour-coordinated bracelet)

Guy mentioned that this Pensa "makes an appearance or two" on the new album. Which would be the first time we could hear it on a studio recording.

I read about the "The Last Post" as I knew it from movie scenes I guess but I am not that familiar with it - Joseph Haydn is said to be involved in the composition of it.

Many thanks for the link, it was very moving!

The fangirl noticed all of those things too, LE!    ;)   Oh, and the way he positions his feet!   ;D

I notice that underneath the video, the place Mark grew up in has been copied from Wikipedia, which is wrong.  Mark didn't grow up in Blyth, but Gosforth!

Very nice, thanks for the link. Meanwhile the blue Pensa is also one of my favourite MK guitars (like the red strats, his famous blues gibson, the national and the Pensa Suhr)

Indeed a surprise.  A nice one, but a surprise nonetheless!

I wonder... what Mark was listening through headphones? If he had an amp beside and just 1 guitar, so what he could listen to? Click? Original tune? ???

I was wondering about the same!

Click track was the idea that came to my mind, too.
