Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - the 2015 version
« on: December 16, 2014, 10:41:33 AM »
This classic topic is once again up on the wall. The ever ongoing bullying of DS/MK from that hilarious institution of rock music.

It's a f***ing disgrace, a joke! Green Day, I mean, come on!! It makes me sick... every single year! :disbelief

Ringo Starr!    He's only there because the other three Beatles are there already.   He's a joke as a drummer - he was a makeweight from the start.    SRV, I agree should be there.

(Asked by a reporter if Ringo Starr was the best drummer in the world):

In the world? He`s not even the best drummer in The Beatles!

Lou Reed should have been in there even if his solo records are not as influential as Velvet underground's (already inducted).
Green Day should be in there as well, serving the cocktails to the musicians that are inducted. It is a joke really. Copycats that offered nothing new to music.
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble are still not in? That was a surprise. But better late than ever.
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are great fun and although there are others more influential, maybe they deserve it for being such good fun in our youth!
Bill Withers has a great voice and a unique sense of rhythm. He wrote at least 20 hit songs that have influenced many musicians.
Paul Butterfield Blues Band were great. And well deserved.

Why DS and MK are still not in, your guess is as good as mine! And I really don't care!

I'm not saying anything about the others. It's Green Day that really grinds my gears. And somewhat, Bill Withers.

Looking at the list of former inductees one will always come to the conclusion that there is absolutely no good reason in the world why MK and DS haven't been nominated, yet.

bill withers is a legend. SRV,...aaah, don't get me started, ...PBB band, sure
but if greenday and a former warmup band for Dire straits get in, why not MK?
on the other hand,...should we care?
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

In the early days I did care about Hall of Fame, I thought it was a prestigious club to be included, an acknowledgement of "humanity" to the musicians. Now? Oh well ..., I think it is mostly for people who are not sure, and seek for confirmation into some institution built by other people to service the first ones because both parties felt the same way that they needed a point of reference. Looks like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is just another certificate to hang on the wall unfortunately. It is a shame because there are great musicians included there, and the authority are not doing any good to them.
Myself? I have made up my mind, I don't need them to include Mark Knopfler, I am doing fine with my Hall of Fame :).
