Vinyl bootlegs
« on: July 31, 2015, 02:27:40 PM »
I've seen a few of these posted on the MK facebook group. How do you get in the market to find such things? I've NEVER seen one on eBay. Would be very keen to buy a few if possible...

I have a few that I bought many years ago (probably early-mid 90s) at CD/record fayres.  The days before internet trading...

So they're super rare? Are there no online sources to shop at that specialise in live Boots?

I'm not sure.  I have seen the occasional one on ebay but they've been quite popular ones that crop up again and again.  There isn't a market for them any more for more recent concerts of course due to on-line downloads, so I suppose they are getting quite rare.

I always remember buying bootlegs at these fayres and getting home only to find the setlist was markedly different to that printed on the rear.  Sometimes even the gig was different.  I recall one having the band members listed playing the wrong instruments!  :lol

I'm just not a digital downloading sort of person! Would love to have a vinyl boot of every Tour Era... I'll watch the Bay, but I've never seen anything and I've looked occasionally.

They were the only source of live recordings in the 80ies. You had to visit record fairs to get them. I still have most of the ones I had but hardly listen to them these days.

Same here.  Wouldn't ever get rid of them though as they have a sentimental value now and are quite attractive.  Some of the vinyls have a mottled effect to them, one green and the other brown!

Or (more realistic) has anyone compiled a nice picture collection of various vinyl boots? Would be lovely to see, even if I can never own one.

I have the one called "Live in 1985", live from Stockholm. Bought it long ago, was already pretty expensive and limited to 500 copies (as said on a sticker still on the sleeve).

Willing to sell it, not too sure but I can consider it  ::) Very beautiful record and in perfect condition.

You can see a picture of it on Jeroen's website.

I never paid much attention to vinyl bootlegs as I never had a turntable, I used to buy bootlegs in cd, but a couple of years ago, I had more or less all the released bootlegs cds I wanted to have, so I started with the vinyls, and man, these are the most difficult to find and some of them are so rare that are very expensive, but they are great. Now I have most of the ones I wanted to have, I´m very satisfied with my current collection. There are many that I dont have yet but the ones I wanted to have, they are in home!
You might get lucky, now and then

Here are mine.  The last picture has only one but the others I think may be of interest.  Once upon a Time is Werchter '81 and American Tour is Cleveland 08.08.85:
