The singer does not sound MK

Definitely not.  I take it he was "just" the guitarist in the band.

Thanks for the post. :thumbsup

I definitely think it's MK, but obviously his voice sounds much younger - he would have been about 21 yrs.   Dave Johnson, who was in the band, says Mark was the singer.

I've been listening over and over, thinking of a 1978 picture of Mark but still can't imagine!  :lol

Yes, but this was recorded in 1971 and if you compare it to his voice when he sang Chilly Winds with Sue Hercombe, it is not that dissimilar.   :)

The picture says April 1970 and MK vocals yes but really doesn't sound like MK, not even 1 bit

It doesn't sound like the MK we know today, but neither does he sound like he did in 1978.  People's voices change over the years.   :)

Yes absolutely but from 15 to 22 it could change quite drastically. from almost 21 to 28 I don't see how it can be completely different.

....and from 28 to 67 it is very different too!    :)    Who do you think is singing then?    I would have thought those in the band would know best.   ;)

Some new info directly from Mimmo

* The song is about 4 mins long

* He has another MK recording (alone singing with an acoustic) which is even older than this 1970 demo and the voice is the same
so he confirms it's MK singing

Thanks for the information!    It would be great to hear the acoustic version!     :)

BTW In the Myles Palmer biography, Richard Kelly says that the demo was recorded in a London studio, but Dave Johnson says it was recorded in Bramley, Leeds.   It seems most likely to have been Leeds, I think.    :think

In that book other character that I can not recall says it was recorded in Leeds. Also the mknews official biography.

In the Oldfield Book David says it was in London, but maybe it's a mistake

btw great story, thanks to Mimmo ! and thanks to all for giving us the chance to listen to this piece of history

I am not surprised that the voice si so different, and I think it's Mark singing

Although the voice doesn't seem as much like MK as we are used to hearing, for me the phrasing seemed spot on for him. Thanks for this great glimpse of an early MK.
