The "headband" he wore during the OES didn't seem to display any sweat absorbing properties.....looked more like a piece of thin (long) material tied around his bonce....!
I think he said that by that stage the lights had evolved and weren't as hot, therefore no need for a proper sweat band. It was more of a bandana really. Keith Richards wears something similar these days. :)

By the way I wore reeeeally long hair about 6 years ago and I must admit that I had to put on the headband, not because I'm a fan of MK (he never wore reeeeally long hair anyway), but just because I wasn't even able to eat properly with hair like this. Not to mention playing live! And the reason why I got so long hair is just because I'm lazy.

Yep I think his OES headband was more of stage prop a bit like Brian Wilsons piano.

While I am sure that the sweatband had a very practical purpose, I believe it became a stage prop (and 'security blanket', of sorts).

Mark has stated in interviews he started to wear it because of the hot lights, and just sweating a lot. He is not as energetic on stage now as he was back in the day, so he doesn't need to wear it. If it was a security blanket type thing he would still wear it, so I don't think that was ever the reason.
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

Pretty sure he dropped it on 96 to emphasise that he was solo now - the headband was DS.

hey ybot, what is the goal of these posts? questions, just random remarks? you have to become a bit more precise in what you want/want to say/want to know.
i know english is not your first language, but give it a try.

I agree! May I suggest "I would like to discuss Mark's headband." As it is, it could about almost anything.
