Very funny coment from gear page:

i'm going to risk being keelhauled and say that i'm not liking this record too much. There's some gorgeous playing on it, but honestly, can we just retire the pennywhistle already? I'm as Irish as they come and if I never hear that instrument again it will be too soon. Knopfler has been in this pocket for at least the past decade, and I can't help but wish that he'd surprise us - maybe do a more guitar oriented record, something stripped down and dirty. Or maybe a pure 50's kind of a vibe, like a 3 piece band. I don't expect him to go back to what he was doing in the 70's, but this new album is entirely predictable.

I agree! Make surprice to us!

A kind of summary of what "we know":

- MK and Guy had been in the studio more or less since September working together
- A band session took place, we don´t know from how long, and who was in that band sessions
- "Playtime Deluxe", according Guy is not a clue of what is this project about
- "lot of good things coming" according to Guy, so, looks that we can expect various releases or one with a variety of items
- The Henrik Hansen documentary is one of those things
- That lot of things will happen not before 2017, or at least the announcement, but whatever happens, will be before 2018, according to Guy
- Powers beyond Guy and MK prevent them to tell anything about the project, so, other people (VIP artists, record companies etc) looks like are involved
- Van Morrison is not one of those possible people, or maybe is, as Guy stated he didn´t went to BG lately, but they had interesting moments while the Wyman 80th birthday concert
- Guy didn´t denied that Clapton or/and Emmylou Harris are involved, but it doesn´t mean they are... Guy sometimes ignore to answers certain parts of the questions
- MK wrote all the songs that had to be with the project, and according Guy, he´s already giving us too much. The question he was answered included "collaboration/all star band" in the sentence, so some of the dots start to make a line about this chance...
You might get lucky, now and then

I'm sticking with multi collaboration. Guys recent answer infered that the documentary was not what he's been working on with MK.

Obviously, it doesn't need recording or creating new songs...

But Guy said "a lot of things coming", the documentary DVD fits there

Why is that? Mark as usual can go his own way and create a collaboration filled with new songs only. Totally in MK style.

Something like enhanced version of Sailing To Philadelphia. With Ruth Moody guesting on 9 tracks out of 12 :lol

What it doesn´t need recording or creating new songs is work on the documentary dvd...

For whatever he´s doing, Guy said MK wrote all the songs...

Maybe we'll get an up-to-date version of 'Summer's Coming My Way' at last and be able to hear the words!     :D

Has anyone considered that he might be doing an extended collaboration with soundwaves art, something perhaps totally left field?

New disc, new songs, old faces and one or two new ones on the disc with him. Larsen documentary to support, perhaps some extended tracks with a couple of other things. Musical salivation to commence!!

Wherever this ends up I am sure that in hindsight it will be entirely predictable. Mark likes what he knows (see Tracker tour set list) and I can't foresee any departure from recent form that will be fundamental, whether you see that as bad or good.

They're probably just working on a new Range Rover commercial.  :)

Tracker Tour setlist doesn't bode well for the new tour setlist....in fact all recent setlists (apart from the "where was that song pulled from" moments) doesn't fill you with confidence...I suspect when the new tour kicks off there will be this whole debate about setlists once more...its a fair debate to have to be honest...if you joined the last tour midway through the setlist, you could have been on any of the last 5 or so tours...or even longer....setlists...the bane of our lives!!
