Still wouldn't write a song about it. Do it properly and maybe Mark himself will write it! :lol

I cannot provide a source for this, as I heard this from a friend that heard this from another friend, but just to add another anecdote here's the thing:

He said that once, a man saw Mark and his family in a café. This man had a friend which is a huge fan of MK, so he readily informed him by phone.
So the fan quickly reached the café in time and asked Mark something like "Mark Knopfler? Can I bother you for an autograph?"
The reply has been "You're already bothering me." Then he wrote the autograph on a napkin and threw it on the floor.

Because this is straight up Rüdiger type of attitude and Mark being extremely polite. If I'd saw Mark anywhere I would do NOTHING.
It's like this beggar from Amélie who said "No thanks ma'am I never work Sundays". The man is chillin' in a café, he's not working.

One cannot walk away from fame without having to deal with it every now and then. Mark chose to be famous in the first place.

That being said, I don't believe he did that, especially in front of his family.

This forum is becoming more and more pathetic by the day.

No wonder if MK distances himself from his most extreme fans...

The nicest thing I heard about Mark comes from a friend who actually witnessed the event. He saw Mark leaving an AA meeting with Eric Clapton in 1995. We all know Mark enjoys a good drink but has no alcohol issues which makes it easy to infer he was there for his friend. Mark and Eric are closer than we might think.

I'm sorry to disappoint you but apart from the odd post gig encounter Mark distances himself from any and every fan, my friend. He doesn't even know what his fans say or think of him. And just for the record, this topic and most of its replies are from 2016 in case you didn't notice it.

Mark still wants his real fans in first rows in his gigs.

And performing, still exchange looks with his fans, and, sometimes, only sometimes, give a hand to some of them. And likes the running of the bulls.

Out of there, only songs lyrics matters to me to know how he is.

Mark still likes to perform. He doesn't have to do it for anyone in the universe. If he'd hate it he would've stopped.
