Will there be a 'proper' live album following this tour?
« on: April 29, 2019, 11:49:16 PM »
Apologies if this is known or has been discussed. The 'final' tour seems like the perfect chance to compile the recordings and mix up something that would be releasable don't you think? Would be great to have a 4LP release or double CD whatever I reckon. Anyone in the know?
Hey, i`ve got a truffle dog - finally a song the ordinary man can relate too!

Maybe that's why they take care to mix the downloads well this time, three weeks delivery and all, so that the fans will get their live recording and Mark doesn't have to be bothered with any of the work after the tour. A proper release would be nice though. Even if Mark can't be bothered, I hope he'll assign Guy to do it.

Don’t forget that there is still Henrick Hanson with his documentary. Perhaps he will shoot some clips while he’s on tour. I wonder how that project is going. Is it still on you think?

That would go nicely with a live concert video of this tour. But soon also the documentary is outdated, so I have my doubts that it might not be released.

I also think the Hansen doc has been shelved. I'm guessing because of the musical, and now the doc is no longer current.

I think the opposite, I think the Henrik Hansen documentary has been pushed back so he can incorporate the Local Hero musical and Mark's last tour, I mean why bring it out in 2018 like it was meant to be, and not take the chance to wait and include these 2 momentous moments from Mark's life and career?
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

But wasn't the Hansen doc supposed to be related to Tracker (only)?

I never quite understood the purpose of the Hansen documentary. Mark had just done the Life in Songs thing. What more is there to say? And recently there was the lengthy interview in connection with the Down the Road release. Don't know. Doesn't seem likely.

Imo he should release a kind of 'best of live' of all the tours from 1996 onwards

Deja vu feeling...

2005, 2008, 2010 and 2013 tours deserved a live album and DVD. And the current tour deserve it more than ever.

Personally, i can´t understand the denial of and artist of such a status of MK. Sad. This music deserve quality footage, not only for the great performances, but also because, at the end of the day, this is also what stands though time.

For instance, i can say that BB King did the most incredible tour of his whole career on 1965, with brilliant performances full of energy and soul, and a solid set  of songs. But if we don´t have "Live at the regal", that sample of the magic would be lost. We need good recordings from the music that MK is doing in order to have an historical register.

Yes, and Knopfler also admires that record from BB King. Maybe we should remember him...
