Nice upbeat little number.  Once again though what is promising to be a nice little solo is taken over after 5 seconds by Greg.  Very annoying.

Listening to the 4 tracks on the EP for the second time, I liked all 4, especially the first, Dolly Shop Man and the last, Chess!
This first track is a bit reminiscent of Beryl, the vibe goes in another direction, but it takes us to Beryl at times, Chess is a very interesting track too, it doesn't look like anything MK did, anyway, they are well arranged songs, very tasteful and very pleasant. The master follows his saga beautifully, his work still pulses strongly!🙏🏻

Love this one. Almost sounds like a John Hiatt song

What a fantastic track! Talk about rolling back the years. Love it.

Nice tune! Love Mark's voice on this one. Punchy and clear, and actually reminds me a bit of how he sounded in younger years. Thematically I don't think it would fit the main album, but musically it could have added a bit of energy.

Would have been a much better opener for the album than Two Pair Of Hands.

Musically, yes. I actually cannot stand that song.

Indeed.  The more I hear Two Pairs and Ahead of the Game the more I dislike them.  Musically they're just too simple and the little riffs have become cheesy and boring.

Agree with two pairs of hands, compared to the rest of the album it just doesn't seem to fit now. Ahead of the game is just delightful and apart from some of the bonus tunes is the only real goer on the album. Hearing ahead of the game in the cinema on Friday blew my mind!

This is probably the best of the vinyl songs and could fit on to the main album.  :)   BTW I really like Two Pairs of Hands and AOTG!  ;D

Am I the only one hearing a hint of No Wonder He's Confused in this one?

Yep and a bit of Foreign Affair in the change just before the solos
If I realised that the chances were slim,
