I call the dice, chips and replica ticket, etc the equivalent to Christmas cracker tat!  Does MK seriously think that is what his fans want?  Would he himself be impressed with that?  I don't think so!

LK  Are you really impressed by a REPLICA ticket!   Most of us here have loads of REAL tickets - we don't need replica ones!  ::)

Ha! Christmas cracker tat! Nail on the fucking head Val (pardon my French).

I have drawers full of genuine old tickets also. As for the vinyl, well, I no longer have a record player. Sure, this appeals to some people, but let them buy it seperately, again, I'm sure they don't want to pay for all the rest of the crap, just the vinyl.

And the tab book, well I'm a guitarist, but i don't want the tab book, I like to work things out for myself. The tab books are ofetn wrong anyway, because the artist (in this case MK) doesn't usually get involved and it's just down to some guitar player to work it out... like I end up doing myself.

Val, I fear MK doesn't care at all and this comes from the record company.

Martina,   If MK doesn't care, then perhaps the record company  should take some responsibility about what is going on!  It is in their interest too to sell as many box-sets as possible.   ;)

Val

The Deluxe box set is in limited quantities, so the question is how many will be produced?

This only show us once again the limited strengh and/or involvment of the artist with control over his own work versus what do the record company with it.

For 134 Euros you can get a build-your-own-guitar-kit! This would be an idea  ;D - but craps dice? I guess it's rather dice & crap!

Anyway do, we need a DVD with behind the scenes? Usually this videos are always the same: shaking handycam, musicians telling bad jokes and old war stories backstage, stereotyped answers to stereotyped questions like "Do you like your fans?" or "Do you like playing here in ..." - ah and yes, the current album is of course the best they ever did and so on.  ::)

And just for the accountants to check:

- 2 LP                          25 EUR
- Tab book                  20 EUR
- CD/DVD/Bonus CD    20 EUR
- some other stuff  2 EUR

Makes 67 EUR. Difference to 134 is also 67. Hmm - maybe you get each item twice  ;D

Cynical? Shame on me!  ;D

my two cents:

Is this Deluxe edition a rip-off? No, if the final price will be 70-80 euro, it's just a bit overpriced box.
Is it what the fans expected? No, it is nothing special. Vinyls & tab book have been always released separately, while the rest (dice, chips and ticket replica (!) ) are just a joke, with no value. The bonus cd with 3 tracks is just a cd-single (I'm quite sure it will appear on ebay).
I really don't care this package (do you really think there is no other way to get the bonus tracks?  ;D): I would be annoyed if this should have been the only way to get his music, but fortunately I can choose the less expensive Digipack edition.
MK never tried to please to his fans (like other artist do). But my question is: must he? My answer is NO. Yes, the fans buy albums and concert tickets, but nobody force them to do it. MK's job is to write and play songs, nothing else.
MK is not going to release live stuff? No alibi, it is his choice; but in my opinion he has no duty to the fans.
Maybe with his behaviour he's losing many fans on the way, but clearly he doesn't care about it. MK is this: take or let.

Completely agree with you, rudiger.

The best protest against the deluxe box set is for no one to buy it, but despite all the moaning that's been going on about price and content, I bet it will sell pretty well.

I don't know if it will. I don't think MK sells a lot of records these days, particularly. It depends on what you define "well" as. I mean, On Ever Street sold 8 million or something, I haven't seen any sales figures for KTGC but I'd be surprised if it sold much more than 1 million.

Yes, Val, or maybe one of those 'fun' party blowers or confetti.  Are we having fun yet? :'(

Yes, I was thinking of party-blowers too, but couldn't think of the name for them!   YES!   I'm sure we're all having great fun discussing the box-set!   :D

we don't need the behind the scenes DVD but the clips are far more interesting than you describe; have a look on Guy's site, there are a few there, he's interviewing car drivers, lighting technicians, drums tech, caterers, I find them very interesting.
