Hi,
After some discussion Ingridswing & I are looking to organise an AMIT meet up next year (2023) at a location to be decided. After some deliberation we've come up with three weekends, one in May, one in June & one in July so we can literally have two nights three days together where we hope once decided that we can do some MK related walks etc during the day
For example: if we go to Newcastle we could visit many MK related places including a pilgrimage to Whitley Bay to see the ToL words in the paving slabs at the Spanish City!
Flood me with ideas!!
Please note:
The poll will run for 1 month only and will expire on the 30th November 2022.....
-
And please use the poll to choose 1 or 2 favorite weekends.
We are thinking about saturday as main MK day.
MK related activity during the day and party on saturday night.
Let the ideas come in please!

I've always wanted to go back to Whitley Bay. My Mum and Dad took me by car there on the way home from a shopping trip to Newcastle one day in the car when I was a boy, however it was wet and windy so I only gazed out of the window at the Spanish City. There's Tynemouth, North and South Shields just down the coast too.

I've been there once - only to Whitley Bay FC to watch my team Poole Town FC play them in the FA Vase Semi Final!!!
Whitley Bay is easy peasy to get to from Newcastle on the Metro so would be a myst do on the Saturday!

We went to Whitley Bay last February after we had been to The Sage for Transatlantic Sessions. It was very windy, but it was great to see the paving with ToL. We returned home via Cullercoats and Tynemouth.
Looking forward to seeing our MK friends again! :wave

When does the poll end?
-
When does the poll end?
Indefinitely at the moment - we need to allow time for the regulars that haven't been on here for a while and have been notified...
The meet up is most certainly looking like being held in Newcastle in May or June 2023....

Thanks! There needs to be a deadline set so that a decent hotel can be booked, especially for June.

Of course it's very dependent on whether LHM goes to London as I get the feeling there are masses wanting to go there....

London would be a no no for us in that case!

Id like to think the meet up would still be in Newcastle and would be to coincide with when LHM is being staged to enable those who wish to attend the musical could 'pop' up to Newcastle over that particular weekend..

I'm going to ask Ingridswing to put a 'month' limit on the poll, so please cast a vote for your choice of venue/date. Remember we only have around 6 months to get this sorted!
So whichever Location/Date has the highest vote is 'What it is'

That sounds like a good idea! :thumbsup

June 16th in Newcastle would work for me, presuming I can get flights from Ottawa, Canada.
It would be great to see you all again.

Surely anyone who was desperate to see the musical would have gone to Edinburgh or Chichester, not really any harder to get get to than London...

I know some people who bought tickets for London that didn't got them for Edinburgh or Chichester, for various reasons, one of them being London a far better connected city with almost any airport and also a very turistic city, so you can plan not only attending the musical to also visit the city with family or friends. Yes, Edinburgh is also very turistic but not all the airports have flights to it, and some that have it, prices are not affordable.
I also know that some of those people are waiting for a London announcement to finally being able to attend the musical.

Seems strange, Chichester easy to get to from London Gatwick airport.

Yes, but London as a place to go is more attractive than Chichester, which is unknown for, for example, most of the Spanish fans.

Agree with Dusty just as easy to get to Chichester and far more attractive than the dump that is London!!

I'm in London the week after now to see the Harry Potter thing but should still be OK for this if it's in Newcastle.

Never been to a meet up but been on here for years. Would I be welcome?

Yaaay!

So June 2023 in Newcastle it is for a meet up....
More details to follow once Ingridswing and I have more info...
-
Any news yet about the fans' meeting in Newcastle?
-
Guys, with no news on the meet up, I have to say i'm out if it does happen.
With cost of flights from Ottawa, Canada to London nearly doubling since the meet up was mention, its now out of my budget.
Hope it still does happen, sorry I will not be there.
