Hello
Yesterday i was at the event. There was aproximately 5000 people. The place was ful, crowd was in a good mood, sometimes even very energetic..
Band plays good, ofcourse it is far from real Dire Straits band.
Guitar player did some good songs, but a lot of them where bad, to say at least. Maybe i am to much used of all the old videos on youtube.
Mark was mentioned after Chris was introducing the band. Crowd started to cheer loudly.
Chris said that he never thought that will be posiblle to play this songs again, until after he meet Terence Reis. He gave him full credits as a singer and quitar player.
Well i can give him credits as s singer as far as quitar player.. It can be discused..
Best song played: Where you think you are going
Worst song played: So far away. They played calypso version from Sydney. Intro was awful, also later(electric) part of the song.
List of songs played
Telegraph road
Walk of life
Tunnel of love
Romeo and Juliet
Expresso love
So far away
Where you think you are going
Once upon a time in the west
Brothers in arms
On every street
The man’s to strong
Two young lovers
Why worry
Your latest trick
Sultans of Swing
Money for nothing
Going Home
It is posible i forget a song or two

Strange way to start the show with TR and even more strange to have ToL almost straight after it. It's like after the 3rd song you can go home knowing they've played the best songs already! :hmm
-
Funny, i was thinking the same after the 4 songs😀😀
Also why worry was played, i added it on the list

...So if you need to reach me
You can leave word at The Pig
I have no wish to stay around
To watch that Newgate jig
Or any more poor old fakers
Trying to dance in my old shoes
I’ll be gone over the ocean
With the transatlantic blues...

Thank you for the review. These guys are playing in my hometown later this year and I was wondering if I should go since the tickets are quite expensive for a tribute band.

This band doesn't have any sense as the only one DS member there is Chris White, and he was just an aditional musician, not an important one.
At least the DS Legacy has Alan Clark, who was a creative part of most of the arrangements in DS songs and some other people that were in the band like Phil Palmer, Mel Collins, Danny Cummings or even Jack Sonni... but his singer is terrible, Terence Reis is far better.

they had also Chris Whitten until a while ago

DSL will be in Rio next month and I'm seriously considering giving into it. Ok, the singer sucks but seeing Alan live would be huge for me.
Let's see how the promo goes first though. If they sell themselves as Dire Straits with a new lineup I'll gladly stay home.

That’s what happens when you don’t live in Europe or North America, you don’t get what you want, you get what you can.

In my country there was a DSE concert two weeks ago. Reviews weak.
DSE, DSL - the legacy of the real dIRE sTRAITS is squandered. I will always repeat it
-
At least they're wise enough to visit more countries which "The real McCoy" usually skips, which now includes Russia as well. So can't blame them.

Yes, if Mark would come to Brazil on a regular basis I'd never attend a DSL gig. Never, ever. But... we have this saying in Portuguese "if you don't have a dog go hunting with your cat".

Does that mean Chris White is a mouse? :think

Lol No, it doesn't... it means that if you don't have the dog (MK) make the most of the cat (DSL) - because it's better than nothing.
