And it sounds like the outro has been cut for radio edit, am I right? Yes, I know what we thought about Redbud tree...

Someone mentioned here the other day that Guy confirmed he did a radio edit of Beryl...
You might get lucky, now and then

MK needs a new keyboard player..  ::)  ;D

It is really that Punish The Monkey sound -exactly the same... what is it - Wurlitzer, Fender Rhodes, I always mix up these things.. that instrument seems to be limited in its sound variation? Bob Dylan has it often used on Time Out Of Mind, and on that I loved it, but this is somehow not perfectly well fitting...

I like the line Beryl, the tobacco overtook her when they gave her her Booker she was dead in her grave
to (mis-)quote Mr. Bob again.. I like the way overtook her  is rhyming with Booker... and I like Mark's voice on this energetic song! Well done, Mr. Mark!

Just heard it. Good tune to tap your feet along. :clap I am looking for a more bluesy sound like "blue bird". Hope there will be a few in the new album, or something like Speeway lyrically and musically.  :)

"Beryl, was on another level
When she got her Booker medal..."

Abysmal lyrically when you see it written down TBH.  He couldn't have been "tripping over songs" for this one!  Still, more importantly the guitar is nice, the melody okay and arrangement too.  The organ is great, I think and integral to the overall arrangement.  Try to imagine the song without the organ. Uptempo is good.

A bit of a 60s vibe in there especially the keys and Everly Brothers too with the band harmonising on vocals.  Tribute?

Agree with Val (yes, I do) when she says usually good songs of Mark's grow on me so I'll probably hate this next week!  :smack

The song is OK. MK doesn't seem to evolve musically the way other artists do though. All of his solo albums seem like one huge album split into individual albums. There's always this feeling when listening to a new MK song that you've heard it before.

Ha, ha... listened to the song at spotify around midnight several times with other AMITers, went to work, logged in and noticed what has happened in the meantime. It's too funny! But i think the 14th was the better release date anyway. Is it right that we have now the lyrics and the tabs (foma?) before official release, no wait... before the announcement of the official release... Strange things are happening...
This business is ridiculous, but funny  :D

Listened again to the song: This is going to be an album that i like!

Foma and shangri La: This is a new world record and should be worth mentioned in the guiness book. We have the chords and the lyrics before the official announcement of the release date of the track! How fast are u, AMITers. WOW!  :clap

It has some similarity with "King's Call" by Phil Lynott feat. MK. I think it resemble the melody at the part "after all she gave" and "all about the king's call".

The first thing that popped up in my mind is that the song has a more raw approach, don't you think? I liked it very much, a great guitar work and a very good pace. I miss more MK uptempo songs.

I think PC management needs longer to write the announcement/reaction message (Probably they are doing it right now), than you finding out the chords... What is more professional?
