"Beryl" is a great song!!  ;D I really like it!

Fast, nice and catchy melody, great strat - I think it will be even more great when MK plays it live, longer solo  :clap

Great news!
One of my friends said: it sounds just like Dire Straits!
I agree, and I like it! It was the reason I started to play guitar.
Sadly, i can't find it any more on You Tube.
Would some one please PM me an mp3?
Please

Yes, Beryl is quite cool but nothing new as already posted.
I also like the Strat Sound and the Drums as well. A bit more speed is good on that one.
Redbud tree had not the shape of a first single.
It is time on Mark's records that the drums get a more important role and fuller sound.
The last records were all dull drum-sound-wise.
The last good one was Shangri-La.
Hope the rest of the record is even better.
As LE already stated: The days of real Excitement are over beacuse of it happens nothing really new.
The style is quite the same for years now. O.K. Privateering hd more bluesy tunes but until now
I did not unpack the Privateering Original Deluxe CD Box... Ooooops
That never happened before.
Times since GH and STP changed...sadly
Anyway. Looking forward to the album and of course the TOUR.
WE LOVE YOU MARK!!! :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

Yeah my first thought also was sounds a bit like Sultans. Because of the strong STRAT Sound and the drums. I don't know.
If anyone has the MP3 for me also would be nice. Missed to DL it from YT

The attack after the intro with the Charleston drum reminds me a lot sultans live version. It's wonderful! Thank's maestro!

I hope this is an indication of the style of the album! I do love his folkish style, but a bit of a "Shangri La" type of an album would be awesome  :clap

The single "Beryl" will be released in the UK tomorrow 16th Jan.

The song is about a famous English novelist Beryl Bainbridge from Liverpool - who died in July 2010.  Wrote some brilliant novels and was awarded a posthumous Booker Prize for her efforts.

The track was available briefly on YouTube yesterday morning, along with a video depicting Beryl Bainbridge - they were quickly removed by YouTube.

The song is just over 3 mins long and is a song that will grow on you.  In my opinion in needed to be a little longer with more substance.  However, it is class, but don't expect the world.

Personally?  I love it.

The album is scheduled for release on March 10th in the USA - not sure about the UK release date yet.

Lots of old amiters posting today - some of which haven't been around for a while - it's great to see you all, but on the other hand, it is sad somehow to see you not in "normal" times.. :-) just a little thought of me, please don't feel offended!

LE

I'm one of them, you make me feel guilty ...  :-\ It's not that I wouldn't enjoy posting here all day, it's just that 2014 was a crazy busy year and I simply didn't find the time. But of course the arrival of the new track makes everything else seem totally unimportant, so here I am! :wave
