A new year is coming up and it is time for the usual and highly motivated moaning about the RnR HoF inductees and the obvious absense of MK.

My guess is that if DS has not been inducted it is because that Mark declined.

Do you think Hall of Fame committee approach stars before inducting them? I think it's more like a honorific thing.
And why Mark isn't there I'd say because he is kind of genuinely underrated musician, which he likes anyway I think.
P.S. By "underrated" I mean exactly things like his absence in things like Hall of Fame of This and Hall of Fame of That.

I can still manage to get up in the morning and drive to the office - even though MK isn't inducted. It's not that thing.
The thing I hate the most is that the Hall of Fame has killed itself. Why Tupac?
What did he contribute with to the history of rock music (comparing or not comparing to DS)? And there are many many more examples.

There are loads of people in there not Rock and Roll. I'm glad MK isn't in there with them anyway. :)

Me too. It's not going to happen for MK. ::) And if Dire Straits was even considered, Mark for sure would put the kibosh on any consideration of a DS induction, as it would necessitate a DS reunion.

A DS reunion just for the event would need just MK and John (who legally are DS, the commercial company), Guy on keyboards, Robbie on guitar, Ian on drums and Nigel on sax.
Despite what the OES booklet said, DS were, as a company, only MK and John, and the rest were just hired musicians with two different categories, DS musicians (Alan and Guy) and additional musicians (the rest).

Not exactly, but during the shows he did remark "time for some Straitage" after the Hillbillies set. Take from that what you will.

The folk singer Joan Baez of rocker 'n roll hall of fame 2017 did a really cover version of Brothers In Arms from Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler, which has not been nominated into Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.

Apart Mark's own decision I would see no reason for rejecting Dire Straits induction at the RNRHOF.

I mean you can reject receiving it or to play something for it, like Bob Dylan skipping the Nobel prize ceremony. But reject the nomination itself? :hmm

I might be mistaken but I believe that in case you accept the induction you must be available to play at the cerimony if they want you to.

The Hall of Fame becomes irrelevant when you are fully satisfied with your career and the recognition you get. Needless to say Mark probably thinks that's irrelevant. I happen to agree.

I haven't noticed that nor DS nor MK were inducted to the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame ever. According to me it's a shame.. My question is does anybody here knows why??

Dire Straits would deserve to be inducted but IMHO the RNRHOF is not a big deal.
I have more important things in mind for the Dire Straits legacy than this.

As Mark already has Brit awards, Grammy awards, an OBE, Honorary Doctor of Music from 3 universities, an Edison award, Steiger Award, Ivor Novello award, PRS music heritage award, Music Producers Guild award for best studio, and a dinosaur named in his honour, I doubt he is bothered either way with the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame!!

When I heard the news about Leonard Cohen passing, I immediately went to Wiki and what did I see?
Leonard Cohen, CC (Order of Canada), GOQ (National Order of Quebec) and his name.
But the man died anyway, so what all these capital characters stands for?
Nobody should give ANY attention to ANY accolades after all.

No need for adding another thing on the list that should be allowed to moan about :smack. It is just a way you would write it if you like to emphasise the object - Germans use to do it all the time, they capitalise all the nouns btw - therefore make it all more clear.
