Same setlist of MK, only 'Donegan' (fab intro though) for 'Haul away'.
MK played 4 songs with Dylan...then he left and me too! ;-)

Guests on balcony: Danny Cummings, he came over to me and said hello. And Steve Phillips (NHB).

Elian was caught by security! :( But I did some pictures, they are on my FB page...No photography again...security was tight.

I was seated again on balcony, 300 mm lens shot:

I saw the band sitting in a pub afterwards cos I left early and got on my bus home...

Was the journalist actually there I wonder?   He has "BABY BLUE" on the set-list for the first of the three shows and doesn't mention MK playing guitar on the four songs with Bob at all!   :disbelief

Here is a little feedback on Sunday's Hammersmith show.

Mark's set was brilliant for me. The only songs that I hadn't heard live before were Cleaning My Gun, Sonny, and Privateering and they are all great songs to see performed live. As previously said, Mark's voice is in great form just now, and he seems to be back in love with his guitar again. Lots of his nice "twiddly bits" in almost every song. I'm afraid I'm a fan that can't see Speedway often enough and that and Marbletown were the highlights for me. Sound volume and quality were excellent. Guy's backing vocals were clearly distinguishable. What about the new chaps?  For what it's worth, my opinion is that Ian Thomas' drumming brought something extra to the set, noticed especially in WII and Sonny. Obviously Danny hasn't drummed Privateering, but Ian's drumming here was good. I'm not sure if Jim Cox brings more to the party than Matt. I'll reserve judgement there.

As for Bob. I was almost dreading his part, but was v pleasantly surprised. His set was pure pace from start to finish. Exciting. The band are excellent and Sexton in particular stood out. Bob has a great stage presence imo. Suit, hat, keybooard, guitar, harmonica, quirky intonations. All brilliant. At one point I was on my feet singing along to "Like a rolling stone" The voice isn't great - Bob's, not mine that is - but it didn'd detract too much from the set for me. The noise level was comfortable to start with, but as the set progressed, the volume was cranking up, and the last few songs were listened to with my ears partly covered. No real excuse for that level of noise realy.

A great night would be my summation. Back again this evening.

I was seated again on balcony, 300 mm lens shot:

How on earth did you get a 300mm past security?

On the other hand, judging from 4:3 format of your pictures, are you using the new 4/3 systems from Panasonic or Olympus? I know they offer lenses with amazing zoom ranges but fit almost in a box of matches.

Problem is not to get it past security. It's to use it.
Thanks marky49, your pics are great. So, you didn't stay for Bob ?  ::)  ;) :lol

I'm sad to read about the security issue. I hope that didn't spoil his evening. :-[

Agree with DIFFICULTTOBELIEVE on Jim Cox / Ian Thomas. Ian's addition is more obvious than Jim's.
That said, sometimes you don't realize the hard work because everything look smooth and easy.  :P
Especially in that band where every musician is a master.

Ok, so I rephrase: How on earth were you able to wield and shoot with a 300mm with the MI5, CIA, Mossad and the Apollo security present?

I'd love to read the answer but I think that kind of secret shouldn't be divulged on a public forum.  ::) 8)
Just need to be lucky and wait for the right moment.

They were happy to confiscate my 1.5L bottle of tap water and  a biscuit box.
Was not too bad.  ;)

tap water, very dangerous ! ;D

Sometimes they let you keep the water but they just HAVE to have that screw cap, to make sure you spill water everywhere before the 2nd song!

That's kind of the situation I imagined:

At security:

- HOLD ON A MINUTE, SIR! What's that you've got in your pocket?

- Got in my pocket? Obviously you have never seen a very well-endowed man before. Are you harassing me? Are you discriminating me on grounds of my physical features??

- Ok ok ok. Move along, will you.

In the hall:

- HEY, YOU! YEAH, YOU WITH THE BIG LENS! YE CAN'T TAKE NO PICTURES IN HERE, MATE!

- Pictures? This a medical device to assist my vision as I am 99% blind on my left eye. Is that a problem? Are you discriminating me on grounds of my physical disability??

- Oh, I'm terribly sorry. Hey, why don't you come to the front where the view is better?

I was working on a joke about this thing in your pocket, being on a Rhianna concert, and that it was an absolute usual sight there, but Jackal's joke is by far better...

at the top of your form again, ay??  :lol

French security guys take everything. No discussion. When I go to french shows (not often  :disbelief ), I bring two bottles. For heavy security, I also bring a sandwich or a beer or an electric shaver. Depends on my mood.
It make them feel like the kings of the world when they open my bag.
I always do my best to please people.  ;D

The nicest ones are the Italians. I proposed them to take my beer can. They said it's ok. There were even sorry to keep my bottle cap. Wonderful people.  :)
The result is simple. Guess which country is my priority for next tour ?
I won't change their life but I prefer a venue where I'm welcome. ;D
