Favourite songs?
« on: August 03, 2012, 01:17:28 PM »
I'm new here on the forum(when i say new i mean in the last 10 minutes) ;D

Love it already

Was just wondering, if you've heard the snippets, whats your favourite song so far, you're only allowed to pick one! :P

For me it's Yon Two Crows, the way he speaks in it and the eery kind of music, he's just incredible! This could rival STP as my favourite album

Go, love
Seattle
Kingdom of gold

These are the three that comes to mind first.

The blues... well, I like the blues music but, when I listen to MK, I want to listen to MK, not to blues... they are good but... not as good as a MK song would be  ;D

Hmmm yeah i like what your thinking. Personally, i love th blues, and it means we've heard IT ALL from Mark, some of them may sound similar at first but i've heard the snippets over and over again now and each of them are incredibly different and enthralling ;D. I think this album has it all though. You've got a good rocker in CBC. Some slow, majestic songs in Go, Love and Seattle and then some real catchy tunes like Got To Have Something and I Used To Could :lol

Dream of the Drowned Submariner is on the top of my list, there's something special in this song that makes me shiver. The instrumental part has been in my head for days now, and that long awaaaaaay, I just love it!

But I think all of the songs are really good as far as we can tell from the snippets. There probably ain't gonna be any skipper song for me in this album!

It's not been mentioned and I find Blood and Water very interesting too, medium paced, reminds me a bit The Trawlerman's song. It seems that it has a nice solo on it.

The whole frigging album since it is MK's best album ever. But if I have to break it down somehow...

1) Corned beef city (possibly one of the better ones since DS, Gravy Train part 2)
2) I used to could
3) Gator blood
5) Got to have something
4) After the beanstalk
5) Today is okay

So more power and more blues, less of the fancy chords and beatiful words ;)

I really like the fact that some tracks, especially "Got to have something" really have that good JJ Cale vibe to them.

And, am I the only one to really fancy "After the beanstalk"? ???

No. I love it too, but I could have written down the whole 20 songs - it maybe on my list tomorrow, with another selection of "favourites"!   ;D
