Guitar on "I Used to Could"
« on: September 19, 2012, 05:37:13 PM »
I could be wrong, but is Richard playing lead on this song?  The solos don't really sound like Mark, to me.  I have the same feeling about "You Can't Beat the House".  Can anyone tell for sure?

Sounds like mark to me, a couple of the licks are right out of the oes version of the bug!

A couple of things sounds like things he played with Chet on Neck and Neck.

Always those high-pitched, odd blues chords when Mark plays the blues  ;D

yes funny beacuse I thought the same at first listen for these 2 songs

sometimes it sounds Marks, sometimes it could be Richard

I think it's sometimes difficult to say for sure who is playing what (my holy grail ;D)

I think that most of fans would have bet it was Mark on lead on summer of love if there wouldn't have been any video avalaible

Most thinks that it's Mark on lead on sucker row, but Chuck Ainlay listed only Mark on acoustic and Richard on sig strat, so ?...

I would love to know FOR SURE these kinds of info  ;D

I would say it's Mark on all of those songs. It's definitely him on Can't Beat the House and Used to Could, and Sucker Row too I would think. Richard may be playing an electric, with MK on acoustic and electric lead.

can't hear another electric guitar on sucker row, and why Chuck Ainlay would have omitted this guitar ?

There's (at least) three guitars, for sure, in Sucker Row. Listening to it right now. A guitar doing arpeggios in the chorus and some stuff in between.

I have no doubt that's Mark on Sucker Row.  On Used to Could and Beat the House, the tone and style just doesn't really sound like Mark.  Really the rhythm part sounds more like Mark to me. But if y'all say it's him, I'll take your word for it.
