was elephant family one of the charities of last year's RAH shows? (or the one from the tour before)
as it's chairman, Mark Shand, the brother of Camilla (Parker Bowles) wife of prince Charles, has just suddenly died in NY.
i wonder if it is the man i remember presenting his charity before one of the shows??

"Shand, who was also a travel writer, established the Elephant Family charity in 2002 to save the endangered Asian elephant from extinction in the wild. His award-winning 1996 book Queen of the Elephants was made into a documentary film."

Pottel, Elephant Family was the charity of the first RAH show 2013. And looking at the pictures of the Elephant Family homepage, I am pretty sure it was Mark Shand who made a short but remarkable speech that night. (The second night had a lady talking about a project for blind people if I remember correctly.)

Edit/Addition: And MK mentions "Mark" in the intro speech of Privateering, so it was indeed him. Sad.

Sad news indeed.  I remember his speech very well at the RAH.    I feel very sorry for his family.

Yes, I remember that but didn't know he was Camilla's brother.  Had heard on the news that he had passed.

I'm sorry to say I only gave my money to the RNIB as I saw that more worthy personally but all my respect to the man for what he did in what he believed in.
