Something curious I just discovered about the "Summer´s Coming My Way" demo recording...

According to MKNEWS, it was recorded in Pudsey, Leeds, but according to Dave Johnson, it was recorded in Bramley.

There is one Bramley in the London area, and I recall that in some official sources years ago it was said that demo was recorded in London, until the Pudsey name came in the official biogs in MKNEWS.

I wonder which is the correct version. I know that the MKNEWS is the "official" one, but I guess that musicians that played on it are reliable source of it...

There is another Bramley in Leeds, but it looks like a different place than Pudsey...

Bramley/Pudsey are very close to each other in Leeds - 2.9 miles apart on opposite sides of the ring road.  I'm pretty sure it's Bramley in Leeds that Dave Johnson is referring to and not London.

Here is an article from BBC Leeds entitled  "Musical History"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/leeds/content/articles/2009/07/03/musical_history_paul_cardus_feature.shtml

Paragraph 7:

"We used to record crude acetates at a studio up in Bramley run by the father of Richard Harding from The Cresters, these were sent out to booking agents to spread the word and get more gigs."

Hey Jbaent, official MK staff can even slap the words "LIVE" on a playback recording without single blink of an eye, so I'd trust Dave Johnson.

:smack :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

well, the youtube channel is run by a community manager so I don´t think that´s so reliable as an official biography that probably is approved by MK, or at least his management throught MK...

Maybe MK thought about Pudsey, or was Steve Phillips, but Dave Johnson recalls about Bramley, someone is confused, LOL

You are true hero, I wanted to hear this song for ages. I'm pretty sure thousands of people will say thanks to you.
Interestingly, the song is very good and sounds as if it easily could've been released today. It has true MK vibe! :clap

Awwww, I can definitely hear some influence from Everly Brothers in this, especially Love Hurts and the chords going "trrum-trrum". Amazing :o :o :o

Thanks for sharing! Such a 60s feel to it. Reminds me a bit of Simon and Garfunkel, without the great vocals ha-ha . Strange to hear "young Mark". Is it me or does his Geordie accent come through much stronger here?

Would agree with most of this.  Very 60s with young naive vocals; can't say I notice his Geordie accent though.  Clearly Mark has come a long way from this kind of stuff though (most of the time).

Listening to this song I can imagine Mark and his girlfriend in their flat in Cardigan Road, Leeds.  He, writing songs and singing them to her.  I can almost see the flies buzzing at the window on a sunny afternoon.  I  love the song - I just wish I could decipher more lyrics.   I can't imagine him singing the song with his mature voice, though, it is just very charming as it is with his young voice.   :)
