I think that any AMIT member must be a die hard fan as I am and then will buy the official CD when it is released (and certainly a deluxe edition)
So, as long as the mp3 is listened in a private location, there's no problem.

I just have to say I love it, makes me really excited for 19 more songs (or 16, depending on how you look at it).

For the people saying they think it was cut down a bit, I don't necessarily think it was, it seems like a full song to me.

It has a haunting atmosphere similar to Camerado in a way. I really like transition to a major chord in the chorus in place where you would normally expect a minor. Brilliant songwriting again

I really agree! I love that haunting atmosphere Mark has created in the wonderful Redbud Tree, in the same way he did in Camerado... The guitarplaying reminds me of his earliest days, and the lyrics, when you think about the story behind, is, as always, stunning. I love this kind of songwriting, when it's based on stories and characters, because Mark manage to recreate the feeling and atmosphere. I'd say the guitar solo is quite "long" compared to what we have had on the last records, which of course is great. Whether the original song is longer or not is hard to say, but it feels a bit short. Only one and a half verse, no bridge and no outro solo. It could go on for a couple of minutes I suppose... However, if that is the case, I got to say that I really don't see the point in, or like, radio edits. It's like a TV channel only screening the first 2/3 of a movie, or a gallery presenting only half of da Vinci's Mona Lisa. That never happens... Music is art, and I believe that a song has a beginning and and end for a reason. You can't just take out a verse or a solo, just to play commercials instead. It's not fair against the artist... The again, radio edit or not, I love Redbud Tree, and I've got to say that this is very promising for what we will get in September, not to say live in 2013

Yes, I've read somewere about his inspiration from books reading.

For example, from wikipedia:

And it makes sense to me. If somebody sees something else, different meaning then I'd like to hear it.

Oh man, I didn't pay attention 3 days and look what I almost missed! 

First of all WELCOME to all the new visitors. It is nice to see so many people posting again. Imagine in 3 days we are at page 22 and this subject has already 4026 hits!  It will take some time to catch up with reading all of them! 

I am listening right now at Youtube to the new song and see 608 people have been listening. As so many, I like this song as well!

Just had a listen and I can honestly say it is such a great song already. Marks vocals just get better and better. We never have to really comment on his songwriting capabilities as it's always of the highest order. Stuck my headphones on and the song really was so awesome. The guitar tone is exquisite and the melody top notch again.... WOW. Can't wait to hear the full song.

I did the same thing several times today and love it more and more. I think my first idea (about a slave hunted down) is wrong - I go now for the idea that it might be a song about desertion from a civil war soldier who manages to hide under the Redbud Tree... 

I imagined the scenery pretty clear, which is obviously a big compliment for these lyrics, when they are able to get my imagination going...  The first verse is probably set in nighttime when it's dark (footsteps pass). Then the second verse (which we will get most probably with the album version!  ) will start with the sunset of the new morning, when THE lady finds and saves him and takes him with her to her house...
Ok, I stop here, but why not speculate a little bit...

I think there was no woman involved in this one. 
I think first verse is where he recalling memories and second one he still adresses that same tree as a talisman which once saved his life.
