I just got this idea... It would be very helpful if people that have attended the shows could post what kind of merchandise that is available and maybe, also how much it will cost.
Perhaps even post a couple of pics?
In that case, you could easily be prepared about what you'd like to buy.
Who's gonna fire away first? :)
-
I'll do it after Wednesday 14 April
'
-
That is great IrisRose! Last time I didn't have time to look for merchandise, because as you know we had to run to the stage! I didn't see anything but the door and a big hall with a stage at the end! I even didn't pay attention if hubby could run as fast as I could, poor man! ;D
After the show we all walked back to the caf

Thank you!

Really curious what the women's shirts look like :)
-
That picture is on Guy
-
Oh, thanks!! I assume the black and the grey shirts in the middle are women's shirts? Looks pretty decent. I think I'll buy the black one.
The normal size dark grey shirt on the very right looks really ugly, though!
And - are these tiny round things poker chips?? :o I want one, I want one! Oh wait, looks more like key chains... Expensive key chains!
-
Hmm, I really need a new shirt! My ktgc shirt has some extra holes and entrances which shouldn't be there... The crimson isn't the crimson it used to be! :lol
-
i am getting one of those nice 'n warm sweatshirts again...ands a cup!! i need a cup
-
i am getting one of those nice 'n warm sweatshirts again...ands a cup!! i need a cup
My girlfriend give me months ago a selfmade (by internet) t-shirt for my birthday... It's almost the same
as the black shirt!! :o :o
Black, Mark Knopfler in red, and Get Lucky in white... On the back 3 red dices... :D
-
Hope the merchandise is better quality this time. I have the same problem with my KTGC shirt localhero. And my cup is now almost white without text ::) So need one of them too
-
my cup is still good, but then again i only wash it by hand, never in the machine. and my sweatshirt is in good shape, even after many, many washes.
-
You got me Pottel, I am lazy so the machine is doing the dishes ;)
-
If enough people chipped in, would it not be an idea to have a custom-made t-shirt? It would certainly be a lot cheaper! The "official" stuff is very much overpriced. For people like me who can only just afford a ticket, getting extra merchandise is out of the question...

Its a good idea but we've been here before, just ask Gayle :o :o She got Knopflerado Tshirts made up for the SL tour I think ::) so that fans would recognise each other at gigs.It was such a success that she / us decided to get them done again for the KTGC tour & the next thing she knew she was being threatened with legal action for copywrite issues if she proceeded so that idea got shelved & fast :-[ :-[ In fairness to her & everone involved it wasn't a money making racket & she wasn't making anything out of it,probably a loss if the truth was known but MK's management werent having any of it,full stop :disbelief :disbelief
-
Can't argue with what you've said there...
Interesting though that the shirts were so successful. In addition, it seems as if some management of other were very heavy-handed, as it wasn't a money-making scheme and that we'd have still proceeded to buy official merchandise as well...
Seems like classic refusal to just let the fans be fans...
-
I don
-
agreed. The t-shirts are pretty cheaply done, enough washing will fade them quite easily (well, that's what happened to mine years ago), and cost a fortune. Plus, the design of some of the official t-shirts is, in my opinion, not very good.
-
Cd's for sale were Bo Ramsey's; Pieta Brown's and Guy's Natural Selection. Richard's cd's weren't there due to some retailing issue with companies
-
Tour programme is always a must for me.
I think the tour t.shirts from his solo career have not been to great imo. (Quality & design)
My faves are from the Straits days, and they've lasted well too.
Cheers BBB
-
BBB - totally agree. the 85 t-shirt was quality...
-
In 1996 the fake t-shirts outside the venue were far better than the official ones!!!
Althought they had at the back US tour dates that, as everybody knows, it never happened LOL

Gayle actually managed to sort out KNOPFLERADO t-shirts for two tours and a fantastic job she did as well.I will try and post pictures of both if i can find them and then figure out how to post pictures on here
-
Why don
-
Well when I first joined this forum back in the February 2009 I made a topic about making MK T-shirts.It was a nice discussion but then after seeing what happened to Gayle we didn't continue.
Anyway here is the thread:
http://www.amarkintime.org/forum/index.php?topic=470.0
-
Gayle did a lot of work to order all the shirts (I think it were only 50) for the forum members for the KTGC Tour in 2008. The shirt was designed by another fan (I forgot his name, sorry) and we all liked the t-shirt of Mark
-
Just before the shirts would be sent by Gayle (USA) to many fans around the world, she got a nasty mail of the management! It was a shock to read what they said and what could happen if she would send them to the fans!! All what the fans wanted, was a good quality shirt to show we were big fans of Mark and to recognize each other at concerts, because only forum member would wear them!
I dislike a lot this paranoia regarding t-shirts, I
-
T shirts: Men's: $35 American dollars Women's: $40. Men's are in the middle of the photos we have. Women's are on the right.
Programs: $15.00
CDs: $15.00
Buttons: $10. for a pack of four cheapies--Not the nice ones from the KTGC tour.
Signed poster: $100.00
Keychains: $15.00
Bag: $15. I think.
I think there were coasters and other stuff. But I was interested only in a program, a shirt, and the buttons.
-
Thank you for the list IrisRose! :-*
I wonder why people can't order the T-shirts before concerts in the store at Mark's official site! ???
When people who like to have a shirt of the GL Tour would be able to buy one before the concert, they could wear that one! ;D
Fieneke
-
The only answer that cames to my mind is that I do miss Ed Bicknell a lot.
I totally agree!! The promotion during the STP tour was WAY better, too...
As for the shirts, personally I prefer the official ones but I like fan made shirts too, if they're nicely done.
-
I believe the whole shirt thing originally came to pass due to the poor quality and minimal effort put into merchandising for MK's shows (this was a while ago so I could be wrong). But zero effort is put into the design and they are usually cheap quality. Even a good quality shirt with a nice design is ridiculously expensive, but that you can at least wear for a while. It's just extra profit and I won't buy them, at this point I would really have to consider before buying something that looked good and seemed good quality. T-shirts for $35, nah I already have some....
Keep Knopflerin' ;)
-
I would probably stop buying them, but my program collection goes back to 1979 and my t shirt collection to 1992. A leather jacket from '92 (thank you Waldo) and one from '96. Those are the precious ones. The t shirts just take up space in the closet, I'm afraid. I wear the '96 jacket a lot. It's not in pristine condition anymore.
-
I've been collecting (women's) shirts since the STP tour... And the quality was always very okay, compared to that David Gilmour "On An Island" women's shirt which literally isn't more than a piece of cloth... I wore the ATRR and the Shangri-La shirt lots of times so it's okay that they're washed out now, after four, five years. Most normal clothes you buy in a store don't last that long.
EDIT:
So the women's shirts on this tour - They're the white one on the right of the pictures that were posted here, the one with the GL cover? No other colour available? I'd prefer black...
-
All the t-shirts (at least the cool ones) in the mk.com site are unvailable, and I wonder why I
-
I got myself a grey T with Get Lucky Mark Knopfler on it. I'm so glad I did. I was out $40 (OUCH !) very steep, but I will regret it if I didn't. Pieta wore her on stage at Temecula. Just beautiful.
Everything is expensive but what the heck, it's Mark we are paying for. It's well worth it. IMO. Nice keepsakes !!!

what are the sweatshirts like? good quality? (i really like my ktgc one, and it is one of the few tour merchandise pieces of any artist that i regularly wear)

The size for women T is really small. It's almost like for little girls. I normally wear size s or xs. I ended up having to get size L. I hope it doesn't shrink too much. If someone can help me with posting pictures, then I 'll take a nice close up shot and post them here.
The hoodie is in black with logo of I believe Getlucky MK. $65. All the T shirts and hoodies feel of good quality. Thee are also T shirts for men in black with Get Lucky MK image on it. $35 I believe, Girl t-shirts come in white and grey.
-
You wear a size L in women's t shirts, You are tiny! That's why I forget the women's and buy the men's. I want to be comfortable. There are ways to make a man's t shirt stylish on a woman. ;)

I couldn't believe it myself that I need a size L for GL T-shirt. It fits me really good. Thing is the t-shirts are super tiny. They must have made some kind of mistakes in sizes.
You're right, women can look cool in men's shirt. But I think I'll stick with the girl T for now .
-
What do you mean the ladies shirts are tiny :'( Reminds me of that overprived Simon & Garfunkel shirt I bought at the reunion tour 2004... I usually wear shirt size S but I couldn't squeeze it over my head! So I had to sell it again :-[
About the pictures, you can upload them to photobucket.com for example, and post the link here :)
-
I dont buy t shirts anymore
I picked up the program $20
Buttons $10
Keychains $12
-
mmmm programs at Santa Rosa were $15.00
-
what's the program like? can we see a pic?
-
Or is it like a tour book? I've got a KTGC tour book here at home and I didn't not pay for it (got it for free). Even better: there's an autograph on it. Oh no! The whole cover is filled with autographs! :lol
-

Yes, are there new MK pics in it? (You know that question was inevitable!)

program = tour book

Shame about no new pics. I was hoping for a few surprises. :disbelief
I love the tour books. Still gonna get it though. ;)

GennT,
Thank you so very much, I will give it a try !!
I did per your instructions, but it won't post ! ???
-
I was just wondering why they didn't make bumper stickers for this tour. Priced them reasonably, they would have been selling like hot cakes. ???

IrisRose, you forgot to mention the pocket flask for 40 US$!
A real gem! :D
Fill it with Ragpicker's Dream and you'll Get Lucky! ;D

I never agree in buying bootlegs! :disbelief
Even T-shirts...
But I don't buy official T-shirts, either... :P
I'm only after the nice stuff... 8)
-
Ha, there were bootleg t-shirts outside Glasgow as well. haven't seen that at a gig for years, was quite surprised.
Didn't end up buying anything, official or otherwise. Used to buy the t-shirts but they haven't been great for a long time now. The last good one was the grey "Philadelphia MK" one from the 01 tour, at least that was discreet and you weren't walking around with another bloke's name plastered across your chest.
Lithograph's were
-
The 2003 T-shirts were nice and discreet, too.
But I don't dig T-shirts.
Don't wear them anyway.
Did you see the flask, Dusty?
-
do they do cups like in 2008?
-
Doesn't seem so...

Phil, the flask is cool, but pricey.

I love your collection of the memorabilia. Very cool. Now, The UK tour date flyer, is that something they give out in Europe for free?

Yes the flyers are free, and are found usually at the venues that Mark will be playing during the tour...

On the way back to my country I lost my signed lithograph at my connecting flight's airport.FML
-
Oh poor you, that's a real loss.
-
Genn, I am very sorry for you to have lost that lithograph.
-
Well I actually called the Ljubljana airport's lost and found sevice and they found it, but there are only two ways to get it.1) Pay Fedex or DHL three times the price of the lithograph to deliver it or 2)Someone pick it up there for me, if any member from the forum lives near there please help! The lithograph is in it's envelope all it needs is my address ,I'll pay for the shipping!

I hope somebody will help send it to you. What I don't understand is that why would it cost you 3 times as much to fedex or dhl it ? It sounds very unreasonable. I know the lithograph itself is over $100.
-
Well I bought the litho for 50 Euros in Amsterdam and yesterday I only checked with DHL and they told me a price around 149 euros as they have to go and pick it up at the airport and then send it, going to check with FedEx too today ,hoping they don't have ridiculous rates!

knopflerized,
I might need a favor from you. I'm looking to buy another key chain as a spare. I hope they sell them in Europe. It something I use everyday. I'm afraid that it will break some days hopefully not too soon. So, I thought I better buy another one as a spare. I paid about $12 when I bought it in CA. Would you mind getting one for me? I can pay you via paypal. No problem.
I'll be very appreciative if knopflerized or anybody else can help me with this.
Thanks a lot!

Strange fit! Way too loose around the belly area...

The blue one fits better but is a bit too short.
Oh and by the way, my hair is not greasy but wet ;D

goldenheart,
You look cute in both T-shirts. In NA, there was no blue GL T-shirt only white.
Knopflerized, thanks , but I didn't see any PM from you.
-
Gorgeous, very easy on the eye.
And the t-shirts aren't bad either. ;)
