No, it's a pedal steel.
-
Ha Ha Ha!!!!!
-
any idea as to when this issue will be released? (only recently discovered it, and kinda like that magazine)
-
is that his back garden?
-
Although I do prefer the http://www.classicandsportscar.com/ magazine, I have to say that octane looks really cool.
-
No, it's a pedal steel.
Like it.
-
is that his back garden?
Yes, that is his back garden.
I was there for a BBQ last Sunday.

If it is his garden for some reason he doesnt seem to like grass - perhaps he is too busy writing music to get outside with his flymo!
-
No, it's a pedal steel.
LOL ;D

What BBB said:

What BBB meant to say:
Yes, that is his back garden.
I passed it on my way to B&Q last Sunday.

"Pedal steel" is another classic from Jackal. Made my day ;D
The blog post is a nice find, thanks ustas. According to it, Mark has written a song about one of his guitars for the new album. Anybody recognizes the fragment of an axe shown in the blog post? Could it be '58 Les Paul?
-
Kooba, Paul Harmer wrote "latest album", so it probably means Get Lucky and the song being Monteleone.
-
I read it again and you're right. My imagination is working overtime when I think about new MK music ;).

Yes, I assume that this post includes 2 photos of Mark's Manteleone
-
Top pic is indeed Monteleone (characteristic "M" tuners) but I wasn't sure about the other one. Very likely it is the same guitar though.
-
Jackal -- "pedal steel" -- very good!
-
He has done better jokes recently.. 8)
No, No, just kiddin', I didn't expect anything else!
This is the coolest pic I have seen from MK for a long time. Blimey, I could even open a Drooling thread right now! :o

It might not be his car, but I thought it was funny that MK has a Texas flag on the back. :)
-
I noticed that too. Can't be his car. Not much Texas about Mark. It also looks like a Chrysler Jeep. Don't think he drives American cars :)
But a BMW motorcycle? Had expeceted something a bit more vintage, or at least soulful, from Mark.
-
I understood that the interviewer showed his motorbike to MK... Am I wrong?

Paul Harmer went with Robert Coucher from "Octane" to Mark's house and Paul Harmer took his guitar with him, so I don't think they would have gone on the motorbike. Maybe they went in the car and the motorbike is Mark's.

Hasn't MK been driving BMW as a daily beater in the past years? Anyhow I assume that he has a substantial collection of vintage cars as well, sometimes one could get the impression that there is (or was?) a Porsche 356, Ferrari 275GTB, Maserati 300S, AC Ace, Austin Healey 100S and an Invicta low chassis.
There is a documentary about his collection at youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze6Cn4Lc3Gw
-
love his australian impression of Frank Gardner
-
but there is nothing bout his cars? is there??
-
oops, part 2..
-
ooh, and there is a part 3 as well? dudes, i gotta work!!
-
love it when they look at the cars and mark starts talking about the maserati and goes "don't you love...don't you love the...." and i immediately heard "The Last laugh" amazing!
-
is that mark in that "modern" red racing car in part 3?
still not many cars shown...
-
Maybe, I thought the motorbike was from the interviewer by something I read, cant remember what.
And yes, that looks like the back garden. I heard that where Mk lives has a private garden behind every house and a private path to come in and out with the cars (so no need of parking at the streets).

Unfortunately I don't have the video, but in 2009 MK appeared on a car show called "auto mobil" (this thread: http://www.amarkintime.org/forum/index.php/topic,693.msg17182.html#msg17182), and I remember him complaining that he could get only one parking permission for on-street parking at his London home. It's a pity that the video isn't there anymore, guess it was filmed during the corporate presentation of the (hideous) Porsche Panamera, he was talking about his Porsche 356, driving it on a track and afterwards driving that ugly new car.

Yeah, sorry - in my memory there was more talk about his cars, but it's a nice film anyway and a good reason to postpone meetings and all the other work ;-)
-
Rolling on the floor laughing about "a pedal steel" ;D

Purple...... why? rolf
BTW : I love that new kind of pedal style...!
-
I was wondering if there is someone with a facebook account and willing to ask the guys at octane http://www.facebook.com/OctaneMagazine when the article with MK is going to be issued?
-
I assume it was published in July Issue 97 or September 2011 - Issue 99, but I do not have it and cannot confirm.
The article by ROBERT COUCHER
Why supercars are loathed... and loved GEARBOX Mark Knopfler's favourite things

Thanks for the reply! I'll try to look into it at the book shop at the nearest railway station here.
-
Feel free to scan us some article :D would be happy to read about !
-
Will do - if I get hold of that article.
-
Any luck about it?
-
Unfortunately, these papers weren't available anymore. Usually they have only two copies of each magazine in stock at the railway station bookstore.
-
Nobody managed to get a copy of it, even electronical (like e-book) copy?

I'm sorry for unconfirmed information. I will get the "correct" issue soon and share it here.
-
Don't worry Ustas ! That's no you...
I should have checked myself ! :lol
-
I'm confused - it was published before (in Janury 2011!) the Paul Harmer's blog post. All pictures were made in 2010. I found the copy - it includes very poor articles (1 page only). I do not have any tool to extract this page from PDF copy, so you should download whole magazine - 174Mb
http://filepost.com/files/27a5mbm9/revenuereport2011-01.zip/ (it still works)
