Title: Brian Wilson's cry and TOTT
Post by: JF on November 10, 2017, 09:20:59 AM
this morning on the way to work by bike, I was listening to Brian Wilson's song "Cry", and just after each verse's first melodic line I wanted it to be continued into TOTT !
And even the background vocals made me think to Guy's ones !
I don't mean any sort of thing like copying/inspiration, etc...
it's just that it made me think to the song !

are we so crazy fans that we hear MK everywhere ?  ;D

Seems to be the same chord progression in a different key. It happens quite often! Sometimes it's intentional but sometimes it's just some long lost piece of memory lying in the back of the songwriter's head they can't really identify which ends up in a new song. Third option is coincidence, which is probably what happened here. But yeah, I can hear it very clearly!  :o

Never liked TOTT very much. The complete idea, the way it was recorded, Guy's way of singing the bv...
It was absolutely okay to not put it onto the regular album. Also the wishes to hear it live I did never understand....

This song I loved from the first listen! Very cool discovery, very sophisticated production.  Thanks a lot JF!

Spent 20-30 seconds on decoding what's TOTT is. And it's the Terminal Of Tribute To. A very good find and a lot of similarities here indeed, especially this line in the verse and major/minor choir vocals. And that's why I love music, when same sort of idea works in so many great songs.

Yes, usually I don't ike acroyms, but when the title song is too long, I admit I am a bit lazy

By the way, (hey I was going to write BTW ;D), I didn't know much about Brian Wilson's solo stuff, until I discovered his best-of released in september, when I had to write an article about it (sorry it's in french)

Beautiful melodies, gorgeous harmony vocals, fantastic arrangements/production. Well, very good music to make it simple  :)
