Greek Sunday newspaper gives first 4 Dire Straits CDs.
« on: May 20, 2012, 08:25:06 PM »
A Greek Sunday newspaper, with a circulation of 100,000-150,000, will be giving away with the 4 Euro edition, for the next 4 consecutive Sundays, the 4 first Dire straits CDs. Judging from the 5 Queen albums it has already given, they would probably be in card envelopes. If anyone is interested, let me know, preferably by PM, to buy extra copies and send them to you when it is complete. It will be the cost of the CDs (16 Euros) plus postage. I know it is only for collectors of various editions, but I thought I'd let you know.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

Dusty, they are giving away such wonderful things, that you don't have to go to a record store at all, anymore. They also give away books, CDs, DVDs, clothes, lotions, tea and coffee, extra magazines, free subscriptions to the resurrection and church pardons for all your sins. But nobody can afford to buy them all, so it is DS  ;)  But the private debt of each Greek is one of the lowest in the EU. It is the public debt that is killing us.

Pottel, what do you mean? You are interested ONLY if they are in card sleeve envelopes? What if they are digipacks? They never give jewel cases, for that matter. The extra magazine that announced it had 3 pages with photos and personal (of the journalists) stories. They also provided a hard cardboard box to envelope all the CDs that have already given and are going to give. (Queen, DS, Eric Clapton and Sting)
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

Yeah,  but we would have low private debt too if we didn't bother paying taxes. :)

Yeah,  but we would have low private debt too if we didn't bother paying taxes. :)

We have a saying here in Greece, that goes a little like this: "The green leaves burn together with the dry ones". I guess some people avoided paying taxes, but the number is not greater than the average tax evaders of European countries. After all, not so many Greeks have off-shore accounts, like the ones living in the City (London, U.K.)  ;) But I guess if something is legal it is ethical, or just...
Anyway, for what I know, it has always been a characteristic of Greeks, to buy only if they have the money. Only in the late 80ies, early 90ies the first credit cards showed up, and it wasn't until the mid 90ies that the loans for shopping became easy and readily available. But the ones that took them burned magnificently at the great stock market downfall of 1999 (they took such loans, in order to gamble in the stock market, and lost them all). Unfortunately, at the same time, 80% of the money deposits of social security funds, were played by the PASOK (socialistic) government and lost as well. But it is a long sad story, that you can follow at the other threads (Europe and Greece as a solution). Just bear in mind, that the government that signed the two memorandums with IMMF and EU (2010 &2011) that brought Greece and Greeks to the state we are in today, was pretty much the same government of 1999. Both time they were elected with less than 25% of the total votes. Talk about democracy...
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

By the way, it will be hard for me to get copies after each Sunday(time consuming and a long way to go to the newspaper's headquarters) , so please, I will only buy copies for the ones that notify me until Saturday afternoon, European time.

Here is the first one! Obviously it is a promotion for the new album, but still nice and unique.

Pottel I got you one, as you requested. Is it of your liking? Do you want the rest?
