Pretty cool song :)

Like it!
It's the 2017 version of "Tall order baby" ;D

Wait a minute... NO GUITAR SOLO? Why bother to call MK then? Man, this guy doesn't know how to play 3 power chords? I'm out...

Awful song.

Well, it is not about the three chords. It is about Mark's name... And the way he plays those three chords, of course. But I also miss a solo.

THAT sound of THOSE fingers still gives me goosebumps though... guitar part reminds me of the Randy Newman contribution..

Sweet little naivistic song.
A great Idea from Auerbach to invite Mark to play on this.
Sounds like a mix between a B-side song like Tall order Baby and a early 80ies DS song from the Twising By the Pool EP or Making Movies
I could easily hear a younger Mark sing this one.
Atleast good to get Marks name out to a younger generation of music fans - If we are lucky he will Join Dan on this for a TV performance.

Dan asked Mk to play whatever he wanted, and that's what MK wanted to play in that track...

"The song is king." :lol :lol

That's nice. "Play whatever you like, just don't forget to make sure I can put your name on the album, capisce?".
* Mark proceeds with recording three chords *

He said that as a get out clause for not having to play any solos. Sadly, I feel that was the 2nd worst thing he ever said.

I remember reading an interview with Bruce Hornsby where he talked about playing on other people's songs, and he'd play it spiced up his way, and the other guy would tell him to just play it straight. And Bruce would be thinking, "You could get anybody to do this" .

very travellingwillburyesque, love it. could do with less of the percussion, but really like the rythm, the txt, the drums, the chorus....95% of it, great song!

I have the album and its brilliant. It would have been nice to have a bigger contribution from MK but despite that its well worth a listen. I'd say its got a retro vibe.

same here, bought the cd and it is on repeat in my car. shine on me is perfect pop, with mark, as small as his guitar bit may be, it is the perfect bit!
