Currently, my favorite album is Porcupine Tree's "The Incident", which just came out in September. PT just continue to amaze me. Love their sound. I got a chance to see them in NYC about a month ago, and I can't wait until they come back to the US early next year.

This guy from Canada plays a mean National lap steel. His new CD is called Bread and Buddah, and features 10 good tracks including 2 with amazing Indian sounds and vocals.....
He wrote his first song at 46 and it's thought that he is close to 70 years of age.

You can listen to the whole album here:- http://harrymanx.com/bread-and-buddha/

Hey Ian, I saw Harry Manx at a local venue just two months ago. He was terrific, does the rhythmic picking thing then adds Indian flavored slide over the top. He does a cool cover version of 'i'm on Fire'.
I wouldn't think he's anywhere near 70, he looks quite youthful live.
Hey, i`ve got a truffle dog - finally a song the ordinary man can relate too!

He is a bit of a mystery man due to the fact that his music career started quite late:-
My Brother saw him here recently and he told me that he was coming back to Oz, but turns out it was only Brisbane I think? He may tour here again so I'll need to keep my eye out!!

Harry Manx has done a cover version of NHB's "Railroad Worksong". Calls it "Take this hammer"!!

And also an extended version of Dew on roses Recorded live at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, June 2010, this song is from the album "Bread and Buddha" (2009)

Is the guitar he's playing the same as Richrd Bennett's?

Its good to find new music and I like JP - his bio is interesting.   BTW he is coming to the UK at the end of Jan although this time I don't think we can do it as we've got another concert booked near that time.

Keep up the good info   ;)

Yeah, he's just playing a support slot in Glasgow though, can't really justify going all that way for half an hour.

I've always been a big fan of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, but hadn't really listened to them that much for a while now.
Due to MK's quiet period over the last few months, has allowed me to re-visit some of the great music sitting in my cd collection that i havn't listened too for far too long. Below is a GREAT example...............
