5552 (beats Jeroen) ;)

Welcome daydreamer. That's the lowest number here I think, pretty cool. I wonder if they reserved or excluded special numbers like 1000, 2000 etc. Also, yours starts at under 1000 so what did they start at? Who owns number 0001? MK?
-
0001
:o

0001

Don't tell me you have it???

0001
:o
Don't tell me you have it???
LOL
I'm still waiting my box ;D
Just joking ;) My number will be pretty high for sure... I have a theory that the numbers have a correlation with th countries, that a range from, for example, 1000 to 1200 could had been sent to Italy, then from 1200 to 1400 to Spain etc etc etc
Just a guess, but who knows, maybe we can set a list of numbers and countries...

Mine is no. 2395

My deluxe Edition was 24,99 does that count, too?

nobody noticed but me? We have 4 digit numbering, so this must mean 9999 copies at most(?) I just hope that the mk.com has the real low ones and deliver them in the order we placed our order. I must be having -0001! Anyway, I don't think it will became as collectible as this, no matter how low numbering we get. Check this:

NO, no Ingrid. They are either the best fans (with money to burn), get-a -lifers (with credit card limits) or investors (with no faith in the stocks) ;D
Would you even consider playing such an expensive record at your pick up? Maybe they would, I guess their hi end system worths 50000 $. But then back in the fire/water/earthquake proof vault! ;D

crazy. there's even a scratch on that dylan album...twm, your comment?
-
It is a holy grail! I have some bootlegs containing many of the songs from there, but this is the original acetate, the one that didn't make it. And there aren't many around. But of course it is something else that drives the prices up, as well. It surely is investment.

The Dylan album sold for a whooping 6137$!!!!
The Beatles mono promo white album, reached 4200$ but didn't meet reserve!!!!
The normal sealed copy, with high number, sold for little over 2000$!!!!
Ever seen a record by MK/DS sell even for a fraction? Even those considered collectibles.
So my guess is that the buyers are just investors or people with money to burn.
And I completely understand them. ;D
I feel a bit cheated with the handwritten print. A pressed numbering on the box would be more credible and at the same time wouldn't ruin the print.
So, only 9999 manufactured or the re-printed second edition won't be numbered?
I am waiting. Maybe MK.com will hold a surprise for us, and we will receive an autograph by the man himself.
Ingrid I am hurt, because I still don't have any edition, par the download that I refuse to listen! But glad you got your copy! Maybe we can open a new thread to describe our experiences as customers for this record. And then send it to MK.com and Mercury/Universal ;D
-
Poor you, you read all our stuff and didn't even have a listen. Unbelievable. I wouldn't be able.

I have no real knowledge about how record companies work in respect of limited edition releases but I know that, for uncommon configurations of some Dylan albums in the last decade, Sony headquarters would contact each of the sales territories in advance and ask how many copies of a particular configuration they would expect to sell. This was to determine the production run numbers which, in turn, might affect the retail price. It is possible that the same happened in respect of the de luxe PRIVATEERING. So, if Germany was the first to give a number (say, 200 copies), then the first 200 would be allocated to Germany. Other countries would then come in with their numbers and get their own allocation. If germany came in later with an increased number of potential sales, this second tranche of albums destined for Germany would have a set of numbers much higher than the first tranche.
Just an idea!
To expand further, one Dylan release produced a special engraved edition of one of the Apple players, loaded with the tracks on the album. It was limited to 200 copies, each copy had a unique number (99 of 200 etc) and it was highly desirable. Even though it was not available publicly, there was a great demand for it, so they produced another batch. As it happens, a friend in the music business got one for me. It was numbered something like: 237 of 200! Why? Because they only had the facility to amend the first number and the second numbered was programmed into the engraving machine.
Now to the BLOOD ON THE TRACKS album on eBay. It wasn't really a promo (in the sense that it was not produced for promotional purposes). Dylan had recorded the album in New York, had selected the tracks and had sequenced the album and, at the last minute, decided to re-recordsome tracks during his Christmas break on his farm in Minnesota. The original set of recordings were made into LPs for "internal use" and not for public consumption. Ineveitably, the early (New York) version of the album surfaced. Thia webpage shows some of these, almost at the bottom of the page.

Thank you for the information twm!
So, the privateering numbering is still a mystery.
-
Does someone know how many box exist ??? ???
Thanks
Guswallace
-
Maybe we should ask mk.com about that.
Of course I can't say that I really wanted made public before the actual release and order, since all vultures would run ahead and buy multiple copies, in order to sell them later at higher prices.
-
Mine is 4454
-
Maybe Mark himself did write on all the boxes.
LE
I wonder if he wrote himself the number of swiss, irish and portuguese shows... :o
#0000
You can't beat that

It is indeed a strange tour in many ways:
Some of the usual venues excluded
Some of the usual cities being excluded (Munich, Manchester e.g.)
Some countries being excluded too, despite this being only a European tour.
I realise planning a tour depends on various factors like venue availability etc but surely with so many differences on this tour it is certainly more than a little surprising.

Still waiting for my box set to arrive?? any other UK residents still waiting? >:(

Mine came on Saturday.

Mine arrived today.
Sincerely i'm a bit disappointed. I think for the price they could have aded some kind of booklet with photos from studio recording sessions, more information about the album itself (although Guy already provides plenty) or the recording methods, gears, etc.
This kind of information is very valid for the targeted buyers of these kind of box sets.
Nevertheless I'm glad I bought it.
-
absolutely, booklet is POOR, plain and simple..
(luckily the album is brilliant...)

I didn't receive my box yet. Could you tell me more about the content of the booklet? Pliz?
-
the booklet has just the lyrics, all the credits together without expecifications and pictures of guitars, thats all.
pretty boring and simple, the worst booklet ever.

Poor us... My guess is that the record company doesn't feel the need of doing something better, because MK sells well anyway...
-
Well, if you think it better, Eric Clapton booklets are usually poorer than MK

Artwork No. 3360 for me....
Box set reasonable I guess - something to put away for years to come me thinks??!!!

Not received yet, still waiting! I wonder if I was late in ordering from MK.com. Late July early August I think.
But I got the regular version and the album is not bad. But I still have doubts if it is brilliant. And why double? Both CDs are 90 minutes! Maybe he could leave out two weak songs and offer it as a single CD. And then give them together with the rest bonus tracks. I really don't get it.

Received today
number 4561 !
-
Received mine today, number 5399. Worth the wait? Yes!
-
Just got my superdeluxe box from the mail store. The artwork is #0563.
I've bought from Amazon.it, came from Amazon Germany, and took exactly a day less a month to arrive in Brazil.
I must say I am amazed with the whole art of the box. For me is the best work ever done to any MK related album. Even better than Get Lucky, despite of the dice and stuff.
Surely it lacks some more information on the booklet. With more recording notes, I think, it would be just perfect. As it is, the jobe it's almost done.
-
FINALLY received mine yesterday as well. Number 2000something. Agreed that it was well worth the wait.

Wow! Am I the only one with my hands empty!

Or maybe we could try another line of investigation: is it possible that your government decided to seize up your package to help fulfill the requirements of the troika?

Apart from the fact that what I bought for 70 Euros they are so useless that will sell for 1 Euro, these are the choices:
a)They will hold on to it and after 100 years they will sell it to pay the debt.
b)They will tax it, by taking the box or the discs.
c)They will ask MK to come and testify, about the whole incident. They will record it and sell the DVD, and then pay the debt.
d)They will let me keep it but take away my Hi-fi.

Thanks man! As a matter of fact it was not luck of patience, (I have two kids that keep me occupied 24/7, so patience was built ;) ) but a worry that it was lost or something. Thank you! :wave

Four years later...
I decided to order the Box that was still available via Amazon.de from an US shop.. today, after four weeks of shipping, it arrived - with number 2480. Which shows obviously that the numbers are totally random? Happy to have "rescued" all three Deluxe Box Sets now within the last three months.

Happy for you LE! Hope next deluxe release is more compact and has everything in this very edition. :)
