I always loved the collaboration between Mark Knopfler & Phil Lynott on the song 'Kings Call',
but had forgotten about the other gem 'Ode To Liberty'.
Some great classic Knopfler licks throughout. :) :)
Enjoy!!!!!

Thanks for posting this gem, BBB! Mark's licks gave me the shivers - reminiscent of TOL! ;D

It's a fine tune, and Mark's licks are sublime. It's been a while since I listened to it, but I seem to recall it's available on Spotify.
King's Call is cool as well.

Another great song, but this time with Mark & Joan Armatrading.
I was trying to find the great song 'The Shouting Stage' on You Tube, but couldn't :-\
But instead came across another rare beauty i'd forgotton about ;D :)
'Did I Make You Up'
More classic Knopfler 8)

A cracker BBB 8)
I saw an interview with his mother lately & she was recalling the problems of bringing up a halfcast boy during the 50's in London,by all accounts she had a tough time of it on both sides of the Irish sea.It was a pity that he went down the drug route later on but there isn't too many living legends (except MK 8)), unfortunately most artists only get the legendary status these days when theyre dead.
RIP Phillo!

There was an absolutely brilliant documentary on BBC 4 a while back on Thin Lizzy/Lynott. It's probabbly on youtube.

Yes, it was a bit rough, like a cinder under a door, but I like it a lot! :)
There's another one, pretty similar, "On Raglan Road" that I have on an album called "Sult - Spirit of the Music" which has a whole host of artists, including Van Morrison, Donal Lunny, Liam O'Flynn, Paul Brady, Brian Kennedy (brother of Bap) and many others. :)
Here it is:

Wasn't this around the time he was quitting smoking?
Imo, each record after Golden Heart his voice has got better and better.
I think around the time of ATRR it peaked.
But in saying that it still seems to get richer as
the years go by. The lack of long solo's is made up for with
his ever improving voice and story telling.
Although I'd be a liar if I said his guitar still wasn't
the most important part of why I love his music above
all others.

Actually I prefer MK's "On Raglan Road" over all the others floating around. That rough voice is just perfect for this poem.
