One song extended
« on: May 26, 2010, 09:59:00 PM »
I was at the concert in Glasgow and was really enthused by the performance of HFB and thought that maybe the extended solo was a one-off but after listening to the recording from Birmingham it appears that the solo on HFB is now much longer than it used to be.  Is this right on all concerts now 'cos it sounds terrific and this is how it should have been from the start;  I was always just getting "into it" when the solo stopped before.

I timed it against a version from earlier in the tour and the solo part is about 40 seconds longer according to Wavelab!

It's indeed a lot longer! :D (1 minute compared with 2008) And the TOL part is in it again (birmingham recording)

2008: 4.24 min
2010: 5.40 min

Aaaahh, you're killing me!  :o
I'm pretty sure i heard every single available tone MK played live from 1978 on and i consider myself having a liable memory when it comes to music, but where the heck is a TOL-part in Hill Farmer's Blues?
PLEASE tell me...i'm dying to find out! :D
What minute, which seconds?
It's driving my crazy!  :P

There's a comparison on YouTube.  It was on another thread only a couple of days ago.

Oh man, i really must have been blind... err - deaf
In fact, it sounds quite similar. OK, a little bit slower, but similar.
After so many years of waiting finally we have at least a few parts of TOL in a MK-concert  :P

Oh yeah, back to old DS days  :D
Sounds so good, even slower. HFB live is magic, with the solo that was clearly missing (cut ?) on the CD. I remember the Paris 2008 solo which was very powerful.

Do you think that MK does it in a conscious way (even if he has not played TOL since a loooooong time), or is it a guitar riff that comes to his head ?
I have not listened to the recordings so I wonder if he does the solo like that every night ? Could it be some improvisation ?
We can only hope that HFB will become longer, so the "TOL part"  :lol
