Who plays flute in the band after RAH?
« on: June 04, 2010, 02:15:54 PM »
It is Mike! Fletch says: "Mike was scheduled to leave us after the Albert Hall shows but I am delighted to announce that he's agreed to stay on for the rest of the tour!"

GREAT NEWS!

I was hoping so much for this to happen! It seems all going very well in this band! I think it is the best thing Mike could do! Well, for US anyway!  :lol
Now I am looking forward my Hamburg gig even much more excited!

Thanks for this news!

Great news! I haven't heard him yet but from what I read here and there he fits perfectly in the band!

Excellent news, in another thread I said a couple of hours earlier that I hoped he would be employed for later shows as well!

@ Silvertown: check for sale section, I have a spare first row in Oberhausen!

Jbaent,  I was on front row directly in front of Mike for three shows and to me he was very important in the band, especially in Border Reiver and not only the intro.  I also loved his part on Get Lucky too.    He impressed me so much that I am getting some of his albums and he has become another hero for me!   ;D    BTW Check out his work on Transatlantic Sessions too!   :)

Thanks but my holidays are soon over and after that only saturdays might be ok for me. Maybe Vienna or Prague.

It's nice to hear Mike will stay the rest of the tour. I think it's a great addition to have some extra musicians on stage. There's plenty of space and most songs (especially BONAPARTE!!!) sound much better. Go ahead, kill me for the 23852528th time. ;D

and people, he adds some cool stuff to speedway to, and he is a really nice bloke.
said he would need to talk to management about staying on, coz he really wanted to, so he must have succeeded.
When i told him, see zou in antwerp, he said "ohh, that's your hometown, innit?"
...
lol, i must have really bugged him with it the past few days.
he is great as well on get lucky indeed, and on border reiver, and, and...
he definitely is more then just a "spare John MCC."
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

Right, Pottel, exactly what I think! Speedway has some really very small, but therefore very cool "staccato" flute on it! Love it! And Marbletownl, as I said earlier, is really lifted into another dimenson now. His flute sounds like water flowing out of the spring...

Have I said already that it was nice to meet you last Sunday finally, Pottel?  :D It is already one week gone since that...

All the best

I'm so thrilled for Mike.  He's such a great asset to Mark and the band.  It was the best decision to keep Mike for the rest of the tour.  He's so good that I want to know more about him.  Plus he's quite cute !!! ;)

thanks val, I'll check his work.
