The Terminal of Tribute melody was simply too good to be left out of a main album, problem solved now.

This is basically a lighter, less dramatic version of the same song/melody put in a different dress with a little bit of
many other MK songs here and there as others mentioned.

If only you could erase this awful Terminal Of Tribute To from your memory and replace it with the Dance Floor, problem would be really solved. Still think Terminal is one of the worst Mark’s songs lyrics-wise. To harsh.

lyrics-wise is harsh yes, it might be one of the reasons he chose to propose a different version of the same melody and put it in a main album and maybe even play it live. Still overall I think the original song is a bit better.

I love TOTT, both musically and lyrically. Yes it is amazingly harsh, especially for Mark who was never so explicit before (nor ever since). It is interesting because it shows how pissed he must have been with Alan Clark... showing the complexity of this character :)
My only regret about TOTT is that it was not included on the main album.

Re BOTDF, yes it has similarities with TOTT but a completely different atmosphere - joyful instead of dark. These songs are about as similar as Roger Waters'Three Wishes (Amused to Death, 1992)  and Pink Floyd (1987)'High Hopes (The Division Bell,1994): similar structure but totally different tones and mood...

I love Mark dearly but he's an artist that doesn't grow. He just keeps remaking the same songs over and over again. There's always this feeling that I've heard it before.

Not so strange when you have written so many songs in 40 years.

He may not be a revolutionizing artist, but he certainly has evolved. Consider all his solo output, or even just the three last albums. They are all fairly different. Somethings reoccur and he has a certain range that he operates within, but he does try to take things in new directions. Not that it always works, and I have been missing a bit of energy. To give Guy freer reins on this album seems (so far) to have been a good idea. It's familiar territory, but there are some cool ideas (again, so far) that feel very fresh, for Mark that is.

I won't say it's a skipper, but the 80s feel is a bit too much for me.
Yes it is similar to TOTT in a way, but at the same time they're completely different songs. I loved TOTT (except for the lyrics but musically it was great).

This one seems lifeless

It is a cool song. Can work out live very well

From Guy's forum: "ABSOLUTELY. If we don’t play BOTDF, I’ll leave the band."
