what is Mark wearing tonight?

... questions upon questions...
Day off today ! It's gonna be hell to wait until tomorrow :-[ :-\
-
This would have been my local show - but im not going for 2 reasons - ticket prices and more importantly - the fact its a GA set up - i dont want to spend all afternoon queing and then jossling to the front - no thank you! :disbelief
-
If Corned Beef City still is left out I'm getting anxious...
*sigh* When MK finally delivers a true rocker since well... ages, he seems to have cut it out after a few shows in.
Heavily anticipating the first ever MK concert in Malmo, Sweden. CBC alone should be worth the ticket price :D
-
we actually have no forum member over in sheep country, only coz Schmonka can't be bothered to stand up?
setlist anyone? :lol

No news of a Cardiff set-list yet? ??? Somebody, somewhere must have been there! ::)

I hope the guys start playing Speedway again. The two versions played so far on this tour are probably the best I've ever heard and So Far Away is a very poor substitute. I was fortunate enough to hear Speedway but I felt a little disappointed when they went off stage after BIA and I thought we were not getting it after all.
It looks like MK put his LP back on again at the end of the video above. Maybe after their little conference, the band decided to go for it!

He puts on his Strat at the end.

On this guitar change, it seems that they played SFA. I don't have nothing against SFA, but don't like it instead of Speedway.
-
I like SFA in Oberhausen last year, real extended intro from Guy. MK making fun with the boys not starting.
I think Speedway has been skipped because it wasn't like Speedway with Danny on drums.

II think Speedway has been skipped because it wasn't like Speedway with Danny on drums.
I agree with you Ingrid! When I listen to my Simfy recordings from last year, "Speedway" had so much more energy!

Agree with you both. I'd dare to say that maybe - I'm not a drum expert - Ian Thomas sounds a bit more technical than Danny but Danny knows WHEN and HOW to HIT the drums. And I think, for what it's worth that there's a lack of power in the songs I heard so far. Though, I didn't attend any gig yet, but to me, Speedway, Cleaning my gun or even What it is sound less powerful than previous versions.
Just my humble opinion though. Maybe Danny will be back next tour, who knows?
-
I felt Sonny Liston was weaker too! I remember when I first heard it played in 2005 at Edinburgh, Danny's drumming just blew me away. Although it was OK with Ian, I liked it much better with Danny.
-
From what I've heard on one of the audience tapes, it sounded like Ian was adding his own flavor to it with some additional drum fills. I'd rather see that than see him copy DC live.
-
14 October 1977, Bing Crosby died from heart attack at the age of 74. Makes you wonder about lost time...

In the contrary, Ian Thomas is playing some different things specially in that song. Danny was very good, but Ian is doing his work very well. I guess its just a matter of time. Danny was just ok in his first tour, but excepcional in the nexts...

1) To be honest, I have more problems with Jim Cox playing plinki plinki as with Ian Thomas. After I listened to the available shows, I think Jim Cox doesn't nail it in STP and also not at Speedway, his solo at the end is too playful, too much typical Jim, and doesn't benefit the songs so much. I really miss Matt Rollings piano right now, I think he was really fitting into Mark's music perfectly well, and he had a great way to play - true to the original recordings, but the same time unmistakable Matt... Ian has a cool style in my opinion after all I hear on these recordings, but I will be able to judge better after really having heard him live.
2) Just for the record, Isaac confirmed that the set list wasn't changed in Cardiff, so at least we got to know that, too! ;)

I miss Matt too, especially on STP. His "conversations" with Mark were inspired. :)
