Will they release it on 7th October? It would be on the 30 years anniversary of the "Dire Straits" release. We probably discussed it before, but that date is getting nearer and more likely.

It is not impossible that the record label will do something in connection with the anniversary just to sell more albums, but it's highly unlikely that Mark is involved in any of that. And for sure he'll be extremely opposed to the idea of releasing his new album around that time.

I don't think there is any point asking Guy about this anymore!! He has been very patient already and is busy with other things, the delay must be to do with the record company otherwise Guy would have said, and he must be busy with other things, for him the new album is finished.  He has already stated the album is to be released this year, so it can only be a matter of weeks to wait now.

It has been always a matter of weeks to wait, since so long that I can't even remember  :hmm

October is the release date of the first DS album in the US. (20.10) In Europe it appeared on June 8, 78 :)

I think that if the record company would had planned anything special to celebrate this 40th anniversary with a special edition or something , we would know already...

I don't think the release date is before November...
I don’t think Mark want to release a new album at all  ;D
Just joking, but i think that will not happen for sure. He is getting away from DS as far as even possible. So for sure no releasedate so many years after the first release of DS.
November is indeed more likely....

I have both in my car for my daily travel to work and I discovered that Privateering has aged very well and I like almost every song, even the blues ones, except "Miss you blues" that still sounds as a boring nonsense to me, and that Tracker has aged for me very bad, I only can listen to "Laughs and jokes", "Basil" and then I skip every track until "mighty man", then skip until "Silver Eagle", and from there, skip songs until "Oklahoma ponnies" and "Time will end of sorrow", the rest are so boring to me that I can't stand listening to them...

As far as Tracker goes I agree with you totally on song choice.  Those you listed are my favourites by a country mile.

Privateering doesn't interest me much these days.  Only a few nice songs but no great ones:

Haul Away - nice little tune but no classic
Privateering - good sea shanty but annoyingly repetitive lyrics
Yon Two Crows - what seems like a minor classic at first eventually fails to deliver
Kingdom of Gold - moody but subdued number
Bluebird - underrated song in a sense but I never feel interested in listening to it much because it doesn't offer much.

I doubt it.  Mark is notoriously out of touch with dates and stuff like that.  Remember that French TV show he did last time when he was promoting Tracker and all he could remember was the venue he was playing!  :lol

I was talking about a proper special edition by the record company with bonus material etc etc
