Maybe Guy has hinted at the rehearsal of that song for the MSG because they are aware that sales are not good enough. They want to encourage fans to consider going to that show by teasing us. Just my two cents

In that case they should go all the way and declare they're inviting clapton to join in for a special 30 minutes version of tunnel (not that it would make me move)

Someone noticed that they have 3/5 of the seats available

You might get lucky, now and then

There are planty of tickets sold at the arena sections, there are many empty seats but the situation is not that bad.

Where the situation is worst is on the rest of the MSG, with empty seats everywhere.

I dont know if they want to record that show but if they do they woumd have to focus the cameras in the arena section and avoid general views.

I don't think they cancel it now. It would be bad for Knopfler and Raitt brand. They can also reallocate people from others sections to others in the stalls closest to the stage and put in total darkness the empty sections...

Who's to say Mark will reach the end of the tour anyway.  Apparently he's looking frail now.

Its just 23 days, he would make it despite his exhausting and demanding schedule and way of life.

23 days and a lot of travelling.  It's not like travelling the UK, or even the eu.

Why would it not sell out? Mark is selling out dates on his own, so add Bonnie's fans aswell, it should be a sell out.
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

Because it's a big venue, 20.000 people and its NA, not Europe.

I understand that, but it is 2 sets of fans, so more or less 10,000 each. They may reduce the ticket price closer to the date too.

Also, I'm not exactly sure how much promotion has been done for the show across there.  PC doesn't exactly do promo.

We'll be touring down the road wherever, and take it from there.

They seem not being that appealing to general public and add ticket price.

When was last time Mark sold out a big one in NY ? I would guess he was still playing under the Dire Straits banner.
Otherwise MK solo gig in New York are a 6'000 average attendance (how much in 2008 performing Central Park SummerStage ?).
