Altamira movie soundtrack

Nice to see some familiar faces from Spanish films, like Tristan Ulloa, Antonio Banderas and Javivi.

I have to say that I was a bit worried at the start when Guy said that they were working (MK and him) with computers and sample libraries, I was expecting some synth score like "Last Exit..." but in the end it's full of lovely guitar, and with a real orchestra, also celtic flutes... maybe it would be too much to say it's my favourite score right now, but together with Local Hero, Cal and A Shot At Glory, one of my favourites!

I like it very much.  Lots of beautiful guitar and the main theme is gorgeous.

Though I love the main theme, I miss the epic finale of The Long Road, Going Home or Metroland a bit. But that might not have fitted in with the movie

Altamira sounds nice with some cool guitar licks.
But compared to the other soundtracks by MK, it really sounds as a soundtrack (like The Princess Bride or Last Exit To Brooklyn) with a lot of synth, low violin (Bison tracks, onward, glory of the cave, farewell altamira....). It certainly suits to the film but it's not a disc I will listen a lot.
Very far from my favorite MK soundtrack Wag The Dog.

Yes, I agree.  I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a final flourish as in other soundtracks.

A great video of the photocall yesterday night at Madrid, with Mark Knopfler, recorded by a friend of mine, professional of video recording, specially with dron.

 

Amazing video! Very nice to see that Mark signs a lot and even allows selfies with the fans! When in 'tour mode' he don't want any pics with fans and now he is posing with them.

Nice video, he seems to be very relaxed. There is always a certain pressure when touring, clearly he doesn't have it now so he's more open to such things I think.

My sentiments exactly.  It appears to me to be a better score than album, rather in the vein of Last Exit (which is probably his best score in a cinematic sense IMHO).  It's really just incidental music for the film.  I suppose that's what soundtracks are, but this really sounds like it!

Also as has been said, it needs a finale: a Going Home, a Metroland, a Long Road...
