WOL Burger King ad
« on: July 06, 2012, 10:27:44 AM »
I can't remember whether this has been discussed here before, but I have been following the thread on MK.com and wonder what the thoughts are of AMIT members on the subject of whether MK should have allowed his song to advertise Burger King.   :-\

A spanish beer used WOL as well in an add...

An UFO was invading earth and a guy with that beer goes and yells at the UFO that we have a song (and WOL sounds) we have friends, we have this, we have that, leave!!! and then the UFO leaves...

Its nice the first time...

You might get lucky, now and then

its the music rather than the song .Don't think it can be copyrighted.Only need to change a couple of notes and technically its different.

If you have seen the movie Ruthless people, just a couple of minutes before the closing credits, you hear music strongly reminiscent of WoL.

But the subject here is should they use this music for ads? I don't like it, but I don't really know if the artist has a saying in this. And after all it could work as a reminder that the artist is still out there, active...
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

It depend on what kind of advertisement the song is used.

Often old songs are used and even now and then it becomes a new hit again! So who knows young people
might discover the wonderful music of Mark and admire him as much as we do! ;D

I must rather sheepishly admit that I strayed from MK after the BIA era and it was that riff on the BK ad that brought me back to him. So, thanks BK!
