Interesting to note how quickly MK managed to get Bap to finish his album yet MK seems to take an age with his albums despite the considerable advantage of owning his own recording studio! ???

he explained in an interview that it takes a lot longer in his own studio because he is not hiring it so he's not going to get kicked out when the time has expired!

Mark obviously wanted him out asap to start work on his own album & gave him a little push now & again :P :PWe should have seen the tell tale signs then that MK was going back into the studio, its obvious now is'nt it NOT :disbelief :disbelief :o

Some news on Bap Kennedy's website about the album.  I'm excited to hear that MK plays on 6 of the tracks and sings, too. :-* :-* :-*  Hopefully it will be released soon!

I sense there's something strange/different going on with this new album don't you? Nothing even yet about the rest of the band coming over. John McCusker's website suggests he already has a pretty full schedule through to the end of the year. All a bit puzzling..... ???

Maybe a truly "solo" album?    :)

My guess is a timeline similar to GL. Album this fall, tour next spring perhaps???

I am glad he takes his time on his albums. It makes is a bit more like fine wine where it gets better with age. Being a song writer myself (purely amateur) I can see how a song develops and changes the first few hundred times you play it....

Perhaps he's there in a sort of "supervisory" role, or helping with arrangements!  Or even making the tea!  :lol    ;D

As I remember well with GL it also took some time. First only Guy was involved, later they had some weeks with the other artists. And pretty full schedule can also mean he already reserved some time to be in the studio with MK  ;)

With GL MK and Guy were in the studio almost immediately after the end of the KTGC tour and the album was in the process of being mixed by March 2009 - I just looked at the GL diary.   So this album is much later than GL and still no sign of the band!   Maybe it will be a spring release like Golden Heart.   :)

Just a couple of quotes about Mark with Chris Barber from the Amazon description:
Andy Fairweather-Low, Eric Clapton, Paul Jones and a supremely relaxed Mark Knopfler, who duet with Barber. Each displays fine versatility and easily conveys their enjoyment in performing with this legendary figure.

Mark Knopfler plays beautifully with the band
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.
