Harmonium?    Doesn't sound too rocky - could be bluesy though?   :)

Wow, lots of interesting stuff.

Recording for three weeks next month.

New line up - poor Danny for the chop?  :-\

Lots of guitars which I'm not aware of him using before or for a while at least, the Jizzblaster for example.

And all those great guitars but the humble MK strat got the nod. :)

Recording for three weeks in June could also mean that the record won't be released this autumn, or am I wrong here? After recording there is always a gap, then the mixing/comping stage, then another gap for cover/press photography/and so on and then four to six months later the actual release takes place. I would go for March/April 2012, like with ATRR, and a maybe smaller tour from April to July 2012... Like they did with Emmylou.... That would be great.

BTW, didn't we open a new thread for the new album stuff, and decided once to close this one down because you can really call these news  NEWS and not NO news???  :lol

Yes, should be a seperate thread.

Also funny to think of MK scouring ebay for bargains. :)

Yeah, I thought that, too. Wasn't that other old harmonium from the KTGC diary also an ebay buy? Seems MK spends a lot of time on the internet.

Was just kiddin' about the thread. However, it all has its natural way, and everbody seems to love this one... So why not.

I am not so sure that Danny is the one who has to go. It could also be Richard or Matty. I think Glen, Guy, John McCusker and even Mike McGoldrick are in the the band for sure. Ian Thomas maybe has left a great impression on Mark at the Kennedy sessions. Is he from England?

The full band will soon be coming over to these shores from various parts of the globe...

Does Guy mean new(s) musician(s) from another part of the globe (not from UK or USA)?
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

Well Mike was really brought in for GL and his flute so he could be surplus.  I really wouldn't miss his influence on tour (sorry Mike).

That would certainly be my interpretation/speculation. More that "just" from the USA/UK.

My guess is that Ian Thomas and James Walbourne could be in the band, something tell me he was impressed with them during Bap sessions.

Very intrigated about the "parts of the globe" thing  :D

Just looked at John McCusker's schedule. He doesn't have 3 weeks off in June. His last June gig is 25/6 and his first July one is 10/7. That's a two week gap approximately. Don't know if it means anything. ???

Who needs fiddles and pipes when you want to make a real fat BLUES album...  8)

yeah...

Oh, I'd love to have John in the band, can't imagine that MK is carrying on without him. But maybe not for this album... only for the touring band maybe..
And if so, Mike also will be with them most probably, because them both together are the folk section at its best...

I'd love a blues album!   :P

I also think that the album line-up could be different from the touring line-up, depending on the style of the album.  I would love to hear John and Mike together again on tour!   :)

Seeing all the amps/guitar tested I just though "not very Rock N Roll" (or trash polka like). The next thing that came to mind was the image of John Lee Hooker alike, taking his regurlar guitar, the usual amp, crank it up, play and record it dirty as it come (Boogie Chillun').
Hard to imagine that the result of how Mark is curently setting his recording can give a bluesy feeling.
