Mark Knopfler soundcheck
« on: November 12, 2021, 10:05:32 PM »
Came across this clip earlier. No idea how it was filmed. Pretty sure MK wouldn’t be too happy about it though.

Few interesting bits. Guy doing a bit of Speedway on his own and Glenn S playing some guitar.

Apologies if you’ve all seen it already but thought it may be of interest.

I have never seen it.

Cool to see Richard playing a Nashville-tuned guitar for What It Is for a bit.

Was it some guy trying to sleep in a double bass case? LOL! Highly trained professional, don't try this at home. It's only the 6th show of the tour so they work hard.

This hockey ring looks exactly like the one I first saw Mark in that exact tour 1.5 months later.

I know it existed but never took the time to watch it before today, thanks for sharing. It's always interesting to see what happens behind the scenes.

I feel reassured that they had an extensive rehearsal of Done with Bonaparte though -- well needed  :lol

Indeed, have seen this clip numerous times, so awfully good to see/hear behind the scenes as it were!

One thing it highlighted to me is how patient they all must be. There’s a fair amount of waiting around and to think they do that for every gig…

I love this. I remember the soundcheck of Silvertown Blues, audio only on YouTube. I believe it was in Germany 2001..  If there is more of this on YouTube, please do share  ;D

I do wonder how it was filmed and whether MK knew about it.

Paul McCartney runs competitions to let a dozen or so people watch his soundcheck. I can’t imagine MK doing that but then again, I imagine their soundchecks would be very different.

I remember Roger Hodgson let people watching the soundcheck. You can buy tickets for his concerts with the oppurtunity to watch soundcheck….

And it's great.

I see no problem attending a soundcheck. It's great to see how they work and put a show on its feet. And it's no spoil however as I guess 99% of people attending a soundcheck would be die-hard fans (so if you don't want to be spoiled, don't come).

Back in the days, circa 2006-2008, fans could attend meets & greets (some of us did) but I think it's all over by now.

I was lucky enough to attend a meet and greet and it was one of the greatest moments of my life.

No soundcheck but a private show in a tiny dressing room from MK and the band, just incredible!
