You might remember that Mark Knopfler was in Newcastle and Whitley Bay with Brian Johnson shooting so I guess MK will be in any of the next episodes
Thanks Dusty for the hint ;)

No.
What I'm talking about is TV programm hosted by Brian Johnson with guests, one per episode. And it's on TV.
-
MK is most certainly listed here and quite possibly he will feature on episode three which will air on the 22nd March!!

How can a interview to MK made by a journalist could be the same than a TV show by acdc Brian Johnson in which he travels with MK to Newcastle and Whitley Bay...

LOL.
First lines of that article.
Uncanny Brian Johnson impressions... I sweared that the interviewer was BJ. :smack
LOL!

Good show. A lot of the old stories but worth a watch.

The family radio story? Lol

You can listen him singing Tunnel of Love. This is shocking.
-
Nice version of picture of you,

And go love, beautiful!

If anyone is a member or wants to join the 'Mark Knopfler fans Worldwide' Facebook group its just been shared on there. Nice program, lots of familiar bits, but the odd little gem in there too.
Don't know if the following url will work for everyone but give it a go -
www.facebook.com/134989793369978/videos/378658776055383 (http://www.facebook.com/134989793369978/videos/378658776055383)
Does anyone know how MK & BJ became friends? I have a distant memory that it was through motorsport but I may well be wrong....
-
Thanks, just found it!

Many thanks! It was very enjoyable. :clap
-
Superb; can we have a part two please?! Those two guys could talk for England!
Interesting to see Kitty provided some archive material too.
-
Thank you.
What a marvellous film, absolutely brilliant!
These guys deserve a weekly talkshow.
-
Seemed much more agreeable here in what is a very enjoyable little film. Almost a tear in the eye hearing Mark sing that line from ToL - never thought I'd hear that again. A couple of glaring errors though:
Omitted the entire OES era, stating DS wrapped up after the BIA tour
Showed the solo albums ending with Privateering, missing the last couple
So Matchstick Man seems like it is going to be performed then. Was Go, Love an insight too? The way he was reminiscing about the Spanish City I kept having a feeling that a certain song was on the cards for the farewell tour, but surely not. :think
-
You can download it on Sky demand.
Can you share it (so I can see it in proper quality)
-
Yes interesting it avoided OES. Solo albums was just a quick scan over, didn’t mention Golden Heart either. The solo section was only about 15 mins, biggest focus was on the first DS album and even before.
Seems go, love might be Kitty yelling Mark to go out for the day and get his Tyneside fix. Definitely via love and affection not go away!!
Chatted away in The Cumberland Arms in Tynemouth. Very agreeable place but I’ll have to nip there for a pint when I’m next in the toon...!
-
Enjoyed it!
As with his collaborations he often needs someone to lure him out of the reserve.

I have posted a short article on my french blog

That was fun! Nothing new for old fans, really, but it's so interesting to see how Mark responds to various people around him. With a livewire like Brian Johnson around him, he just comes to life. Reminds me of the banter with Brendan Croker during the Hillbillies era. And how about Mark doing accents?! That part when he was impersonating that Welsh guy, I was just cracking up!
-
Looks like it gets taken down from YouTube... Not surprising has not even aired yet..
I will record in FHD when it does.
-
The first Tunnel Of Love performance in 27 years! ;D
-
oh man, how great and loose is this interview! Seems like a very natural, pure conversation at times. A really likeable guy as well, Brian Johnson. Loved watching this, thanks for the link!
-
Looking at BJ I can't help but think how sober Mark is...
-
loved it.
less controlled as the one where JI interviewed him.
-

Yes, I thought that too. Probably because JI is quite a serious and quiet individual compared to the relaxed big personality of BJ, who seemed to bring out the best in Mark.
-
Really enjoyed this fascinating episode.
Brian really bought out the other side of MK which was excellent...the impromptu playing was great too and loved Matchstick man along with Go, love too...
-
With all seriousness, is it true that Mark had no idea he had Tunnel Of Love lyrics written in stone? How come? Or was it just some acting?
-
With all seriousness, is it true that Mark had no idea he had Tunnel Of Love lyrics written in stone? How come? Or was it just some acting?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure MK knew the lyrics were written in stone....I seem to remember a news story a few years ago when they were "unveiled".

So I guess it was too early for me to admit that MK looks sober :lol
-
He was just acting
-
He was just acting
But he's not an actor... Or did I miss something? :lol
Very strange anyway. It's not like he's being overmodest like usual, but stating clear facts like that is just strange. My bet is that he really had no idea, after all we're talking about Mark Knopfler here... Give this man a knighthood and he will only acknowledge it after reading news in a newspaper.
-
He was just acting
But he's not an actor... Or did I miss something? :lol
He's not an actor, but he's been in the entertainment business long enough to know how to play along with what's in the script. It's like in the Guitar Stories documentary with John Illsley when they come to the music shop in Newcastle and there's a - totally by accident! - an MK signature Strat, with his signature on it! in the shop window. And Mark goes "Wow, look at that!" As if that wasn't planned.
It's a little corny at times, but it is what it is. I don't mind. At least he tries. I love when does accents, though. I think he's brilliant at it.

If acting is what an actor does, and he's not an actor, but he's doing a documentary, then he is pretending in the documentary ;D :lol

I mean... he knew about the lyrics in the floor, but maybe he thought it would be nicer for the interview with Brian to pretend he didn´t and that was surprised about it...
Actually, MK does that all the time in many interviews. I recall listening to different explanations about songs like "Cannibals" or "Coyote", and I even recall MK saying "I might had said that I was watching the coyote cartoons with my kids, but I wasn't, it was just the idea of pursuing what you want etc etc etc etc", so he kind of recognized he was lying about the inspiration of the song, LOL

Yes, that was LOL funny. That's certainly a northern thing to say, even in Scotland. Can't imagine that being said down south. The things that don't make any sense but terrify the living daylights out of a young kid! :lol

So maybe it wasn't acting then? Since this clip was made at the same time, most likely just after, they shot the Brian Johnson episode.

Ah! I meant the situation where Mark and John stood outside the shop and looked at the MK stratocaster in the window display. As if that was just by accident.
But that "drop that ..." anecdote is funny though.

Mark looks like it was his first time there since the fall of the dinosaurs. Also, great filming on an iPotato!

You know that Paul McCartney never visited his famous childhood home on 20 Forthlin Road? Until last year when he did it.
It's really, really hard to visit places like that when you grow older, too tough psychology speaking. So I can't blame them.
