I've been working on the previous MP.3 guide track. If the intro is different am I going to have to "move" my tracks to match ?

Yes

When you point your finger 'cause your plan fell through you've got 3 more fingers pointing back at you.

Yes.

I'm not doing anything flashy.  I've done a track of the main guitar theme using flange & loads of reverb which could work with another guitar part doubling it and I've done a basic mandolin part (separately) which sounds dreadful on it's own but sounds OK in the mix.

My plan was to send my track dry and then you can add reverb to suit the mix.

Hi ALL!  :wave

This AMIT - DS/MK song Collab - Recording Stage  project caused me to become very emotional today. To know that we have so many truly enthusiastic and talented individuals that gather here warms the cockles of my heart. Great job! to all of you. One of my all time favorite MK tracks!
First I’ll need to introduce myself to most of you. Health issues have limited the time that I am able to spend online these days. I am known on the A.M.I.T. forum as Shangrila 1. I am one of the foundation members and the minute taker for the hook-ups of the 12 foundation members (listed below) during the infancy of the forum. I still have the transcripts and “Meeting reports” of the 11 international hook ups on a HDD.
I went from being an very active member to just a casual LURKER after 2019 when arthritis took over. Marks’ new record has given me added motivation, Can’t wait to have it in my hands.
To have been a part of the implementation of this forum has been one of the best past times that I have been involved with outside of my family.

We became the A.M.I.T. forum -> “A Mark in Time – The Complete Mark Knopfler DATABASE” during the 2nd meeting on 11th March 2007

EDITORS MEETING number 2   GMT 22:30 Sun    11th March 2007
It was previously agreed and accepted that not all editors could be present for every meeting. However - SIX members are needed as minimum number for Voting, purposes.

Thank you, very interesting. So why is Pottel always implying that he founded AMIT alone on his own? Did I miss something? History becomes legend, legend becomes myth?    :lol ;D

I don't want no sugar in it, thank you very much!

That's obviously the "right" way to do it if it was a normal studio scenario, but I was concerned that all the contributions might sound quite similar if everyone sends in a dry stem. I was assuming that the contributors to Going Home must have added some FX to "make it their own"

I'm happy to re-record without reverb if you would rather apply it to the whole mix rather than individually.

Ha ha!

I'm sure Pottel never meant to imply that ;)

Great to have you back Shangri La, I hope you are as well as you can be.

Interesting you have the transcripts. I was just chatting with someone, can't remember who, about the fact that I voted against the amit name (it still doesn't make sense!) but was outvoted and just went along with that as that's how democracy works. But would be funny to hear what I thought would be a better name :)

Also funny that BPD was in the founding group, hoo mama!

Hi there!

For those who don't have much experience doing remote recordings, here comes some tips for export the tracks.

For Guitar Players, of course.

If you are recording guitar using VSTs like Amplitube, BIAS or similars, when you will export a track, please, turn off the reverb and then render the track. You can leave the Delays and modulations as your taste.

If you are recording using Multi-effects like Fractal, Boss GT, Helix, Kemper... If you can record in two channels (dry/wet) you can send me both in separate tracks.
If you use a little reverb and modulations, send me the files as that way you record.

If you are recording analog, send me the files as you have recorded.
If you can record dry, better. If not, no problem.

I will assume the Musical Direction and i'll choose the parts from all guitar players (acoustics and electrics) and then i will send the tracks to 2manyguitars and Tobi777 for the final mix/master.

This is gonna be GREAT.

As for the drums, I don't any straightforward access to the studio right now so I can do it in two-ways: a) to record on my electronic kit through computer, b) to record my acoustic drumkit with a Zoom H4n Pro recorder. I'll try to do both and see what better fits the project :)
