Very nice, it would be great to read the lyrics as I missed quite a lot, but the part I got was very biographical and well written.

Very nice, it would be great to read the lyrics as I missed quite a lot, but the part I got was very biographical and well written.

Lyrics

“Meet you down the music shop,”
Is what the kids used to say
Dreamin’ and droolin’ through the J & G windows, at the Newcastle Central Arcade

He blew up the family radio with his first minor chord
It took two weeks of wages to buy that guitar
It was the best one his dad could afford

The shop keeper gave him a bobble-head nod and said
“Stick at it son, and you’ll find
That if you never stop tryin,’ you’ll never stop learnin’
And music can be a friend all your life”

A newspaper article drove him to Leeds where he picked up the blues
He learned all the classics on the National Steel that gave Romeo an alternate tune
Then he packed up and pushed off for London town
Southbound on the A1 to sing
Built up a band with a Fiesta Red, the one that gave the Sultans their swing

But radio refused to air that old song
They said “Son, you got too many words.”
But he never stopped tryin,’ he never stopped learnin,’
And that tune got the play it deserved

A waltz with a Gibson changed everything
It lifted his Brothers in Arms
He learned how to listen, making Money For Nothing
And became an international star

Then he shipped out to old New York City
To make a hybrid, 6 string design
Down at Fritzle’s Café with a fella named Rudy
The Pensa Mark Knopfler line
And it taught him how to call Elvis
Off of Every Street
It opened the doors to the Monteleone
A true craftsman’s masterpiece

6 fine guitars, guided his way
Symbols to keep it in mind
That if you never stop tryin,’ you’ll never stop learnin,’
And music will be a friend all your life

Man that was great! I like his songwriting. Nice 'playing' with words and the names of some songs.
