yeaaaahhhh!!!! My day has come!
sorry, no live set list from me (want to enjoy the show 100%).
-
Well, there's a 20 minutes break before Bob. You could send us the relevant info then, couldn't you, Mrs. President! It's not only rights, you have also some duties, you know? :o
Have a great concert! :D
LE
-
Thank you my dear friend, I will.
I might consider texting the set list then, if nobody else does it, but I think SirDogg has already volunteered his services.
-
Allright!
First time ever in Sweden's third largest city. A life long dream for me coming true since this is my neck of the woods.
Apart from the proximity to Copenhagen this is Mark's second visit to the region. In 1979 DS played in the university city of Lund at the Olympen. And in 2010, MK played at Sofiero in Helsingborg.
edit: oh yeah... second row, dead center placed - bring it on! ;D
-
Have a great time everyone who's going to the concert tonight!
-
thanks!
-
Finally MK-DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Went past the hotel with a fellow MK fan and just recently got the chance to shake Mark's hand as they were loading out and wished him a great evening in Malm

-
Am I the only one who waits more for the Bob songs with MK than the MK set itself? :)
Its being very repetitive lately (MK set) :(

The only negative thing I can about this setlist is that it's probably quite boring for the Dylan fans. I personally don't need Sultans and those songs (well, I wouldn't say no either), but for them it would be nice. It would be much better and much more logical if he played less DS during his own tours.

Logical and MK are words that are not linked always...

;D
It's amazing how he dares to play like 14-minute outros in What it is and STP to an audience were a lot of people just want their good ol' Bob. ;D
Although, the three last are kinda good in this case.

From Expecting Rain
1 Leopard-Skin Pillbox Hat (Knopfler On Guitar)
2. Girl of the North Country
I guess MK is on the second one too, but wait for confirmation

-
I am a bit too late, BUT.......I hope that our Mrs. President of the Knopflerettes and also Border- Reiver and ALL the other Swedish fans of Mark and Bob had/has a great time! ;D
Although........I think if it is true that Mark only played one song with Bob, then I can imagine that they are disappointed a bit :'(
Fieneke
-
Let's hope it's just unmentioned. Strange otherwise.
Perhaps Mark was overwhelmed by the sheer number of diferent songs he was having to play with Dylan...
-
Maybe that Mark was in hurry to leave for next destination.
Or Bob was not in the mood.

Only two organ songs, that's great news for everyone's ears.
Walking to the edge of the stage? Attempting a stage dive? And wow, he took off his hat!! Strange things going on in Sweden, we need more info... ;D

We should buy an smartphone for use of AMIt people going to shows ;D

Don't worry fellow forumites...
MK played on the first four songs...
-
In the lobby at the hotel meeting GF :D
We were told not to take or ask Mark of any pictures. And since this was my first meeting with him ever, me and my fellow MK fan decided to politely oblige.
Will post a deeper review very soon...
-

Phew..
Nice pic!

And the moral of the story is... go straight up and ask MK for a photo before anybody tells you not to. :)
-
True, Dusty, very true.

Oh it doesn't matter :)
Meeting MK was a true highlight, photo or no photo :)
I think it is very typical for Swedes, we are used to respect authorities ;D
-
Pre-show:
Noted that a lot of the audience were Danish. Good guess is that folks from Copenhagen went to Malm
-
Great review, border reiver. What a night you had :o
-
Bob Dylan's act
:disbelief
Someone, please take the guitar away from the man! And harmonica... and vocal microphone...
(it was embarrasing to hear him play 2/3 notes correct both while MK was on stage and after, I laughed)
of course you could have just left if you didn't like it and freed up some nice seats for others :disbelief

Yes, but then again no.
I had never seen BD and expectations were high. And it would take a lot not to give it a chance and just get up and walk out. There were moments like Leopard-Skin Pillbox Hat, Highway 61 and Thunder On The Mountain. Fantastic blues and great playing by Charlie Sexton. But this was when BD mostly played the organ.
Last night I set my expectations higher than I should have, it was as simple as that.
-
Thank you border_reiver for your review! I'm glad you enjoyed the show and it was great that you had a picture taken with Guy - you looked very excited! :D
You didn't mention in your review your impressions of the first four songs of MK with BD - how did MK sound?
-
great review Border R!
-
Yes Border R; very good review.
I totally agree with you, including the BD performance.
-
Alright people, make way for the Presidential review! ;D
Left work early to catch the train to Malm
-
Thanks Rollergirl for your review! I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the show. I have to agree that there is a part in "Privateering" that sounds like a part of "Early Bird". When "Privateering" is going around my brain, it occasionally ends up being "Early Bird, if you get my drift! ;D
-
It amused me reading Guy's diary that introducing the band Crocks said "welcome back to Malmo: MK" despite never playing here before! :lol
-
Dear Mrs. President,
thank you very much for your pleasant and apposite review. I literally laughed my ass off. I decided to print this post and hang it on my wall till the tour is over. It is only a pity that you did not attend more shows - would have been a great laugh, too!
I especially loved the "two left ears", "the new guy and the old guy" and "...enhanced by a guest guitar player". Also your assumption about the folks leaving the venue and the ones coming too late was very spot on. :lol
In fact, I was wondering if you will post a review at all and thought what if she's so dissapointed that she immediately has deleted her AMIT account... :o
But then I saw your Guy post and everything was alright!
Great to know you had such a great time! Gave me exactly the right mood to look forward my next concert now even more!
LE
-
Thanks for your kind words LE. Everything IS alright, I had a great night!
-
Yes, was great, both reviews. You both have a great writing style.
-
Have to add something. Was just over on the ER forum and noticed somebody had put up a link to somebody's twitter account, twittering away about tonight's gig in Stockholm
this somebody wrote 2 hours ago "L

All in all the President had a great time!
Shit, look at the length of that post, a new personal best, I went and did a Fieneke ;D
OMG!! ......I should be careful writing my long messages! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/Fieneke2/Emoticons/w00t.gif) ......IF even our Mrs. President start to write "books" like I do, there soon won't be enough space here at AMIT for all the other posters!!! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/Fieneke2/Emoticons/Roflbig.gif)
THANK YOU Rollergirl and Border-Reiver for your reviews, I loved reading! I am glad that you both and all the others had a great time at the concert and that you liked the music of Bob's band. Reading the reviews of everybody, gives me a little bit the feeling that I have been there as well! It's hard to wait till Mark's next Tour in 2012!
Border Reiver, thank you for sharing your picture with Guy! I can imagine that you felt excited meeting the guys there! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/Fieneke2/Emoticons/Grinsmiley.gif)

Now now, it's all in fun. :)

I don't see any reason why Mark can't just join Bobs NET, then at least we'll see him in Australia again.
Come on Mr Knopfler, it's sunny here, we have beautiful winery venues, and I will personally cook any type of sausage you want?
-
Last night I set my expectations higher than I should have, it was as simple as that.
You obviously hadn't read the Dylan reviews on AMIT :lol :lol :lol

Thanks all for your kind words!
I really hope MK will return to Malm

Probably not of any interest to you whatsoever but as some of may be aware my other hobby is photography and I use Leica cameras and lenses. In 2000 they introduced a special edition M6 TTL "Oresundsbron" version to commemorate the bridge between Sweden and Denmark. I only mention it because the band crossed it and some concert goers also may have used it and never realised that a bridge could spawn a camera! Anyway here it is, I think it was particularly well done and there were only 150 made:

you're right there ;D

Incidentally, the toilet situation was the same at the Bournemouth show - long queues for the Gents and virtually no queuing for the Ladies.
It was much the same at Bristol Colston hall for The Straits concert - an old venue that, in terms of its facilities, has been updated since I was last there (which was 1986 when, unlike regular concerts, I was paid

It's the end of the world as we know it, who would have thought? I am not complaining though, have better things to do than to queue for the toilet! :lol
-
I forgot to mention; I was impressed at the speed at which the stage changeover took place. After MK's set I stayed for say 10 minutes, 15 max for a chat with a friend, then went to the loo (no queue for the ladies ;D ). No sooner had I found my seat again that the lights went off and Bob started. Very impressive!
Before MK's set, I tried to start a Scandinavian Mexican wave, with some degree of success I must say, as 2 out of 3 of my friends played along (after the 5th time, probably hoping I would stop embarrassing myself, it worked) so that's 2 more people than usual ;D

That's because men booze more at concerts than women, especially beer. It all has to come out eventually ::)
-
yes, but I have been to many concerts and only at Bob Dylan's show, did I not have to queue for the loo, while the men did.
(I suppose you HAVE to be drunk to fully appreciate him ;D (Joke! Dylan fans, don't shoot me :lol )

You're right !!! One of the most beautiful version of "Brothers in arms" since the 2005 tour ! is there any record of the song or clear video than this :
