Young Girl is about Illsley's daughter.
Young Girl is about Illsley's daughter.
Do you see any chance it could be about his wife?
While listening to this song I got a feeling as if I was spattered with droplets of tenderness. :)I agree ! Some would call the song boring but it has really grown on me, it calms me down (which I really need at the moment).
It was something warm and iridescent like an unlooked-for blessing, just a quiet splash of happiness.
The almost forgotten feeling, yeah...
Definitely 10 out of 10
I like this one very much. Mark's electric rhythm guitar is what I was really missing in the past. Richard is cool, don't get me wrong, but the only thing for me that is better than Mark on guitar is Mark on two guitars, or on three :) Like on all that Making Movies stuff and such.
And who is the girl in the album notes? I don't know the pictured persons on Mighty Man, Broken Bones, Long Cool Girl
Check it out dear friends, it's really great what Shangri-La did with did one! Very moving Movie inspired by this songTo me this song is almost equivalent to Six Blade Knife to "cool" me ! :)
Shangri La made a great movie on this song.......
For me the lyrics only make sense with regard to KittyApparently, a broad hint at that is the line 'Me and you we’re 3 and 2'
You're right. It's only connected with Kitty. Somewhere in the Posts were suspects how the Song is going to be before Release and was compared with another Girl Song written by ji about bis daughter. You Mixed the two Things up

Not sure if I understand that line..
LE
marriages?I guess so
I don't understand that line, please explain it in detail (3...2, What?)
I would say it's about Mark's love to Fender Stratocaster.

Thanks, this seems to be very likely. I was thinking about that sometimes two things added together add up to more than just two (example was Mark and Emmy singing, it was more than just the two voices, there was something new added, hope you know what I mean..)

She's his third wife, he's her second husband.

I find it very interesting to hear 'Non English' speaking interpretations of MK's tunes....
By the time Mark meet Kitty I think that is a 'complete man' in is own, I remember songs like in GH or Whoop de doo, all tracks that say one thing at the world: I am a happy man with my Long cool girl.
bye
But also a charm of the hidden meaning is gone.:)

I am not really convinced of 2 and 3 standing for the number of marriages.
I guess Mark is refering to some mythology of numbers, e.g. in Chinese Daoism philosophy 2 stands for polarity (yin and yang) while the 3 (heaven / earth / man) stands for resolving polarity. Both numbers are essential for themselves but will combine to be 'more', like me and you, or man & woman, hope this makes some sense
After Broken Bones, this is my least favourite song on the album right now - wonder if that will change in time?!

I definitely prefer this interpretation. The previous one is not very.....romantic ;D
I feel uneasy, occupying the whole topic, but nearly forgot to mention that Long Cool Girl vaguely resembles me My Claim to Fame.I personnally think it resembles Six Blade Knife :)
Thanks for your angelic patience.

Guy was asked about the "long" in "Long Cool Girl" and Guy gave his usual "whatever you like" answer.
Does "long" really refers to the body height? Or has it another meaning?

Tall and thin, I reckon?!
I am pretty sure the twin played a role in the The Bug video.. otherwise I cannot remember any family around. Apart from his brother on the first two albums. ;D
LE
So much resemblance, and I mean the two little ones, not the older two actors later together with that nice red haired lady.. I have no offical approval about them, though.
LE
Long Tall SallyHa haa, nice one. Lesson taken.
So I think that fits in perfectly with the rest of Mark's line, "something's gonna happen now, it has to".
Terrible song. Worst on the record.

Really? I think it's the best song on Tracker and one of my favourite songs Mark's ever written. It has a beautiful melody and very evocative lyrics. The acoustic guitar riff at the beggining still haunts me! :)
Do you also skip Six Blade Knife on the first DS album ? Because I think it has similar structure...
I love Long Cool Girl, best song on the album for me, the first one to stick in my head. It does not seem to be at first, it is simple and repetitive, but so... peaceful. Just like A Place We Used to Live, but more joyful. Love it !
